    My son is two weeks old as of 9:40 tonight. Is this normal?

    Also, it kind of smells bad. I've been swabbing it with alcohol daily. I'm thinking about having Allyson hold the baby, hooking up the cord to a retrievel strap and then I'll haul ass down the road.

    My daughters was a little more balled up than that and had a funky smell too. I think hers fell off at about 3 wks to a month so yes, I'd say it's normal.

    Does it just fall off or does it happen when you are cleaning it? When I tilt it up to clean under it, it looks all yucky.

    Side note, I want to say that it looked like it had a bunch of puss on it. I'm not sure how I should spell that word, because it looks a little innapropriate the first way I spelled it.

    my sons just fell off. kinda reminded me of a loose tooth....kept getting more and more loose until finally fell off

    Since it's titled "Thread for the parents" I'll throw a bone. My daughter is just now starting to teeth. She's drooling like no tomorrow and she's starting to play with the nipple on the bottle while she eats. It's cute and all, but kinda annoying lol. Not really a problem, I guess more of an observation I guess...

    Probably will happen while he's asleep. My daughter's fell off in her pajamas. We just left it alone as much as possible. Also, congrats!!!

    When my son was that age, we just cleaned it with alcohol. It fell off while he was sleeping.

    As for the teething, try a lorna doone (the cookie) It is rough enough to help break through the gum yet soft enough not to worry about choking. Works pretty good.
