Just a quick picture of our trip to Big Sur.

 

Howd they manage that? Take the rack with the tent?

 

People suck... I'm going to working out a good securing method for mine. There is a product called Hexlox that is on a Kickstarter that locks down hex bolt heads of certain sizes. Also may use multiple styles of fasteners (hex, torx, security torx, and regular bolts) to make a drive by grab difficult. I carry a full tool kit in my truck (still needs organization) in a 1500 pelican case so it's a none issue for me if I need to service or remove it.
Sucks this type of forthought and effort is required to prevent theft.

 

I was thinking of bending the bolts I used... For $5 i can get 8 new ones and use a grinder if I needed to get them off that badly.

 

A quick fix, throw some blue loctite on all the bolts. It's like locking your house at night, if someone wants in (or wants the tent) they're gonna get it, but a locked door or tough bolt will deter a quick theft.

 

Weld bead on the threads would work too.

 

I just ordered my Tepui from Backcountry. They only had one in stock. I got the Kukenam sky tent. I have always had CVT tents but I thought I would give Tepui a try.

 

Damn, just got an email saying Exploration Outfitters didn't have any Ayers in stock and Tepui isn't expecting any until the end of the month, BUT I should have it pretty soon after Tepuo gets some in stock as the warehouse is in Cali.

 

I'm in AZ and got my tent in 2 days after they got it. Great guys to deal with over there @TepuiTents

 

Yeah I have no doubt about that, just hope they get them back in stock by the end of the month so they can ship them!

If my truck hadn't broke down I probably would have seen you there lol. We are staying in a friend's summer home on the Kenai River instead. Pretty good trade off but I miss my RTT right now.

 

shouldve just picked it up on your way to Pismo next month. Thats what I did and saved the shipping cost.

Where's the RTT at? Did you sell it?

 

It is still sitting on my truck. I ordered a new motor which should be here next week. I am hoping I can get my truck going again before the 4th of July weekend.

 

Anyone ever drilled holes in the bottom of their rtt? Thinking of drilling two holes near the edge of the rtt to mount some back up lights. Can't really find any other spot that would be optimal for the lights except for the edge of the rtt. The bed rack sits too far forward to get the light shining over the tailgate.
