    Hi Folks,

I have a late 2011 Tacoma TRD Sport. I keep looking into Katzkins or Clazzios. I occasionally find Katzkin kits going very inexpensively for 05-08 or 12-15, but never 09-11. It looks like these are three different patterns.

My truck has several 2012 things in it (white face gauges, steering wheel audio wiring, only UltraGauge codes for 2012+ work, etc.) and I'm wondering if I got the 12-15 seats as well. I also wonder this because water has always beaded up on my seats and I didn't think the 05-11 seats were water resistant like the 12+

Can someone with a 2012-2015 TRD post a photo of their seats? Also, if someone has an '09-'10 (or early build '11 without the white face gauges) TRD, that would be helpful too. I'm wondering what the differences are. When you look online, it's hard to tell for sure what year you're looking at.

    Thanks!

Didn't seat airbags start in 2012?

Nobody? When I look at photos of 2012+ trucks, the seats look identical. It's hard to tell for sure, though, because the photos I find aren't detailed and it's tough to be sure they are from a 2012+ at all.

That's what I think too. There has to be some difference somewhere, though (if not from mine to a 2010, mine to a 2012 should be different), but I have no detailed enough photos to compare to.

Can you post a photo of one of your '09 seats if you don't have seat covers?

I'd like an '09-'10 and a '12-'15 to see which mine matches...if there are any differences at all.

I have Katzkins, so they won't match up. But the did look like the one you posted up.

So, I did more digging and I believe these are the differences, at least on a TRD truck:
    • 05-08 do not have seat air bags
    • 09-11 do have seat air bags, but otherwise no styling changes.
    • 12-15 have identical shape to 05-11, but they have a slightly different fabric (water resistant) and fold down headrests in the rear.
That would be the justification for three different seat covers for the 2nd gen TRDs. My very late 2011 has some 2012+ stuff in it, but the seats are still 09-11 style.

Thanks! That basically confirms my suspicions. Fabric looks like it may be a slightly different material but the overall pattern is the same. I am assuming you also have the fold down headrests in the rear?

I had an 11 and a 13. Both are exactly the same. Water resistant fabric has always been a feature of TRD seats. Other than when the airbag was introduced, the seats are the same. The reason seat covers are year specific is because there is a spot in the seat cover to allow the airbag to come out.

I work in upholstery they are the same seat (year wise )main differences come in the style of seat example trd/sport seat is different then the base model also the way it might be fastened to the seat the trd sport seats use a metal rod vary annoying. I would call katzkin or try visiting your local shop :) hope that helps

If that's the case, why is there a different pattern from 12-15 than from 09-11? They came out with the seat air bags in 09.

There has to be some difference. Folding rear headrests?

I notice waterproof seats aren't mentioned in Tacoma brochures until 2012. I would think that would be a selling point. I also notice the fabric looks shinier on those than in my truck.

There is no fabric pattern difference. Like I said, I had an 11 and its exactly the same fabric. The SR5 seats are different than the TRD seats.

If you're talking about seat cover differences, they are designed differently depending on the year because of the side airbag in the seat that is on the later years.

Right, but there is a different pattern from 05-08, 09-11, and 12-15.

So, there has to be some difference from 09-11 and 12-15 and it isn't seat air bags. My 2011 has seat air bags and I know someone with a 10 with them as well.
