In Frankfurt, Germany (where everything is banned, can't even buy a pellet gun) the SWAT has an initiation for new guys. They give them an envelope full of euros and tell them to go buy an AK (the full auto real deal version). The FNG is usually back with one by lunch time. I know this because I ran a range for them a few years ago, and we were discussing how difficult it was to be LE/MIL in a place like that. We don't get issued enough rounds to train with, and can't just go to a gun store and buy more out of pocket. It was kind of like that in SoCal too... I tried to buy a 1000 round box of green tip and the lady behind the counter looked at me like I had a dick growing out of my forehead. Apparently some counties ban FMJ?

I had no problem buying guns or ammo in Germany. It was actually quicker there than here. Take the gun or ammo to the counter, show my license, and out the door. Pretty good selection of guns there too. Most gun stores were very well stocked.

Yes, however the license is difficult to obtain. Lately more so. The point is LE/MIL shouldn't need to jump through all the hoops to get ammo for training, especially when you can buy a freakin' RPG on the black market in just a couple hours.

Germany/Europe get painted as anti-gun. While there are more hoops to jump through, it has a very rich gun culture and more hunting opportunities than most US states. Yes, getting a sport shooting license or hunting license does require a commitment to time and money, but it's doable and easy to buy guns once you have it. I shot with the German military several times and had a great time with them. They wanted us to shoot everything they had and drink beer afterward. Great times.

As far as LE/Military being limited in resources, that's here in the US as well. There is not a lot of live fire training going on by our military because it's not in the budget. Local LE may only shoot once a year at best.

I know it was discussed earlier but, Budget gun safe recommendations?
The store I work for special ordered a stack on safe (the cheap one) and I'm tempted to pick it up, the customer didn't want it so it's marked down.
~$350 for a double door stack on safe isn't to bad IMO.
I just need something I can put my guns in while I'm not using them.

    Looking for something under $600

If you just want something basic to keep kids/people from simply grabbing them then a Stack-on safe is fine. If you want actual theft and fire protection....well your budget is way to low :)

Stack-on safes get a lot of flack but for what they are and knowing their limitations they arent that bad for the price

Yeah, the second Gen has a lighter hand guard, aluminum bolt shroud, muzzle break, and a different pistol grip I believe. I think that is it. The only thing I would've liked out of that is the aluminum bolt shroud. The plastic one on mine feels a tad bit cheap, but it functions fine. The muzzle break actually would've been a minor annoyance for me. Since I run it suppressed the thread protector is all I need.

Line it with firebricks, get quality locks, and bolt it to the concrete. I use one for ammo.

I would like an actual safe, but as a full time student with a part time job it's not feasible right now, but I am gonna keep an eye on Craigslist for a used safe.

I can't bolt anything to concrete because the slab is about 18 ft below my house.
    Good idea though

Hey smugly love the rifle! Can you give me some more details on it, I'd love to get a 6.5 Creedmore to get into more long distance shooting.

I could go on and on and hopefully cover it all, but it would probably be a little easier for you to look at it on their website. I will say although they advertise the trigger pull at 3 1/2 to 5 pounds I am glad to say, that it wasn't even close. both stages together of the two-stage trigger measured 1 pound of 11 ounces, at 1 lb. 3 oz. I came up on the second trigger, making the actual trigger only 8 ounces.
The gun is very solid and stable, the flagship is definitely the trigger and the 6.5 Creedmore has a skyhigh BC rate, so when it hits, it hits with Authority.
This rifle was a huge slap in the face to out of $3000 to $8000 sniper rifles out there ( short action of course)

I had a Desert Warrior w/ matching MARPAT Crimson Trace grip. It was a sweet shooter. Traded it for a nice AR a couple of yrs ago.

Sounds good man, can you give me the model number to look it up? I have a couple different rifles for hunting (.243, .270, .284 winchester) but nothing like that and I want to do a lot more long range shooting since here in Nevada I have tons of places to go shooting at 500+.

    The model is 18008
And it certainly sounds like you have the room to go 1600+

Yeah wide open space is what we have a lot of here! Hell even our local rifle range goes out to 600 yards I think.

You might be interested in this article on the short 6.5s. http://demigodllc.com/articles/6.5-shootout-260-6.5x47-6.5-creedmoor/
I probably wouldn't go with the creedmoor for really long distances where you encounter a lot of wind, which I would expect Nevada to have. More velocity is better to a point of barrel life. The 6.5-284 is great if you aren't going to shoot it every week.
