Because everyone has a price. If Montreal gets offered a top 5 pick, a top 2 Dman, and a top 3 forward they would have to be insane to turn it down. It's just like the Gretzky argument. Why the hell did someone trade Gretzky in his prime? Because they Oilers had no cash and someone else was offering a pile of it. If the price is right, anything can be bought in the NHL.

 

yes and players have to play certain amount of previous games, only rfas will be ones who have already played before

Yes, but it's still an interesting set of rules now that I have had time to read them. Lots of limitations that could have certain teams in trouble.

I think teams realize that Montreal might want to make a change while they still can and are willing to overpay in terms of trade for a number one Dman. I'd be shocked if it happened though unless it was for a stupid good deal for Montreal. You can't replace Subban. He's not Wideman lol.

 

Wideman is a piece of garbage. But so is Lupul, Bernier, or Laich. Im suggesting swapping two tire fires

 

I think Bernier could bounce back with another team. I think if the Leafs are willing to give up a pick, like a 3rd rounder, someone desperate once the season starts might want him.

Lupul is done and should really retire.

Laich is a few years ahead of Okposo. Classic case of being overvalued for being a top end players line mate.

 

Lupul is a part of a union and if he wants to play its gonna get dicey.

 

No doubt. However he does only have 2 years left so whatever. The Leafs can work around him for now. He isn't going to ruin the plans for a few years out.

You mean like the NHL games in Europe ?

 

Yea. NFL Europe works because there's typically a week between games which gives plenty of time for travel. NHL doesn't do it anymore, not sure why but I'm sure the frequency of games and travel was hard on the players.

With Vegas it would be the same thing, but people who are visiting there from a place that doesn't have a team can go and watch a bunch of teams play in a week, and visitors from out of town can watch their team on vacation. And travel won't be nearly as hard on the players.
