Does anyone have information/input on when Toyota will start builds for MY2017? I know pricing should be available in August sometime. I held off on ordering a 2016 because its so close to when the estimates were for the change over, but I believe the production for 2016 was extended and the roof damage due to weather in TX caused some delays..

Feel free to berate me if this has been brought up already, just haven't seen it on the first couple of 3rd gen thread pages.

Doubt it. Non new Toyotas are usually made in August.

Maybe I'm mixing my dates up but I thought I remember hearing may. Maybe that was the ordering. Either way it doesn't really matter when they are starting the production. They won't start trickling in until fall

I bought a 2014 in July, in August they had 2015's on my dealers lot. If I remember correctly.

It's July for production sorry. Orders were suppose to start May 1st but I think they delayed that a little

That's looking at the 2015 schedule though. I understand Toyota would try to have similar dates, but I expect the time frame for MY2017 is pushed a little further than that like mid July, even though orders may have started 5/1/16. I'll just have to patiently wait I guess!

2017 production will start in August for the Tacoma. (Plant changeover will likely be late July).

Thanks Jeff. Any guess when dealers will be able to start entering build allocations and special orders?

This is posted on the Toyota Fleet website (You may have already seen this). It says pricing for the 2017 Tacoma will be available in August 2016, which was stated in the first post. I would think production would start before August to give enough time to build up stock.

If you take the 2017 Camry as an example, the fleet website says that the pricing would be available in June 2016. Toyota officially released pricing for the Camry on June 9. The Toyota website is already updated showing the 2017 Camry models and dealerships already have some in stock.

My guess would be that the 2017 Tacoma would start trickling into dealerships in August or September. When Toyota announced the 2016 Tacoma at the 2015 NAIAS, they said it would be available in Fall 2015. They started hitting dealerships in late August to early September. Being that Toyota announced the 2017 TRD Pro release for this Fall, they may follow past release plans to make them available in Aug/Sep. But who knows what Toyota will ultimately do.

Does anyone know when dealers can submit their orders/requests for allotment?

Wrong buddy! The 16's did not start hitting the dealerships in late August. They hit dealers in Mid-Sept after the Labor Day Toyotathon was over. They had to get rid of as much 15 inventory as possible. I put money down on one of the first allocations in early August. Had to give the dealer the number as they had no clue. Build date for my truck was Aug 19th. Picked up my truck on Sept 18. More than likely they held off with the Gen 3 to ensure they sold all the Gen 2's on the lot. I would say a reasonable expectation is 2nd week of September after the End of Year Sale.

Yes , 2017 Tacoma order banks opened on 5/1 . I placed my order on 5/5. The plant switchover is this month and production begins in July. Dealers will have them on their lots late August early September.

I ordered a Taco a week and a half ago, but it hasn't been built yet. Is there any chance it could end up being a 2017 that gets built?
