Makes squeezing shocks without spacers more complicated though. The BAMF inboard 1st gen setup seems like the way to go if you are 1st gen and SOA. You 1st gen guys also have proper shackles. I had to do a lot of work to get mine there.

 

Agreed. I ended up buying a Ford 9" on a whim, but now I'm second guessing that and thinking on just trussing the stock axle a bit and waiting until I can afford a full currie set up linking this bitch. Gonna run me another probably 3-4k just to get the Third member and get the axle all setup, in addition to what I paid for it...Thinking it's not work it

 

MT went LT again. I thought t100 axles were the ones to truss and use for links?

1st gens can use the Toyota stuff because it's all a couple inches wider than 1st gen axles. 2nd gens would only benefit like 1" wider. The junkyard Ford 9" I got is like 69" WMS, vs the 65" WMS for stock rear axles...so it'll match the front end a bit more and keep my tires off the shocks...but I'm gonna have to put in some work to get it set up...

 

And actually...did we ever establish if 5100s are considered MT? Otherwise...stock went LT again

I assume that you've tried different valving to compensate?
I ask cause I do not know. When I was looking at inboard setups I read that valving is a big part of it.

 

Please allow me to be the devil's advocate here but before you go and rip it all apart why not revalve and see what happens?

2.0 shim stacks arent expensive at all and as JD showed me, its not that hard to do.

 

I see what you are saying now. I went through a similar operation with mine. We cut out the crossmember, plated in the frame and pulled the bed to get the relocation brackets as far fwd as a DCSB would allow. That combined with valving that King suggested, the shackle flip and 5" shackles, it worked out perfect. Fucking setup is using every bit of my Deavers and the shocks are not limiting anything like before.

I say go for it man and get at it! Only you know your build and it sounds like youve got some great ideas.

Edit: love me some 1st gens. My 1st Tacoma was an 02 silver AC prerunner with a locker.
