Spotted a famous Okie in Austin, TX over the weekend. Who can name the guy on the left side of the pic with the interesting mustache?

Well, so far they are looking at roughly $10,500 in damage to the truck :( I really hope Esurance does not total it out, it would be absolute terrible timing due to trying to buy our next home right now. I don't think they will as retail on both private party and dealer for my truck with it's mere 52K in miles is around $23-25k. If they do, I may have a firesale on the wet okole's, tonneau, and weathertechs lol...I even think the homertaco grill mesh (only) might be salvageable.

oh, and did i mention, I was supposed leave OK for good tomorrow...

$10,500 doesn't seem like it would be totaled. But then again, being a little bit older with an update and a new version ahead of it, who knows. I don't get insurance sometimes.

    Why Nevada?

you would think...but just got the final word, they consider it a total loss :angrygirl:

they're crediting me for the tonneau cover, more than I think I'd be able to get for it on CL. they shorted me on the aftermarket radio/nav but I will be countering that with a receipt. have to send him my receipt for the homer-grill, hopefully that's still in my paypal. not sure how to give them proof of purchase for my $30 tractor supply stall mat bed mat. wife will be going in tomorrow to reclaim my wet okole's and my weathertech's.

all in all, they're giving me roughly $24,500 for value...which isn't bad because I bought it for $25k brand new in 2010. it was 100% paid off which is the most annoying part.

terrible timing though as we don't want to get another car loan as we are trying to close on a house. looks like we will be putting less down payment on the house than we wanted, have to crunch numbers and see which route saves us the most money.

in the meantime, I'm in a beater nissan versa driving down to FL for 5 weeks of school...probably going to look around this weekend and see what I can find down there.

EDIT: missed your question at the end, Navy wouldn't keep me here (not sure I really wanted to stay anyhow) and I'll be in Reno for Recruiting duty.

Looking at the writeup on it, it appears some stuff got pushed into and tweaked part of the frame...which I assume is enough to total these trucks from reading other's posts on this site.

That sucks about the truck. But of its going to happen you can't complain about the check they wrote you. There is a CLEAN access can, lifted has a shell, white. I think 82k miles. Don't remember the exact year but maybe a 2010/2012? On base for sale for 16k. Super good looking truck. I get back in town Sunday if you want info on it.

Wait ur navy right? Go check out the lemon lot

Already left town...down in pensacola, will be looking at the lemon lot tomorrow. they called me last night as I was halfway through louisiana, might make a trip back up to OKC next weekend if I don't find anything down here. hell, we may just end up with a car as a replacement for the truck until the Mrs. starts working again once our move to Reno is completed. Can't do a car payment right now in the middle of trying to sell one house and buy another.

ended up with a '16 civic touring (has about every bell/whistle you can think of). not a bad little car, plenty of room, lots of get up and go, and comfortable to drive. wanted to get back into another truck but that's not feasible with our situation right now and I want to let the 3rd gen bugs get worked out. maybe a few years down the line (after we've saved more to pay cash for one without tapping emergency funds).

I put there car quality (not counting the airbag situation they and most MFR's are having right now) up there with toyota's. have had several friends/family members that have over 150-200k on theirs. I'll get some pics up in the next couple days.

Not a bad little car, kinda fun to drive. Got the Touring model, has the adaptive cruise control, side camera for changing lanes to the right, and their lane keeping assist thing that is a bit touchy at time.
