I know the company. Thought about working there when I saw your new building. I drink the MRPs from time to time.

I think Ray Charles could see our building, our damn sign is ridiculously large. Yeah, the company has been good to me, started as a Helpdesk tech less than four years ago and now manage 8 sys admins between here and Australia, so no complaints. And I was surprised when I started that the shakes are pretty damn tasty. But we always have discussions on what is the best alcohol to mix into the shake. Pina Colada + Tito's Tequila is a popular one.

Thats awesome man. They do take care of you well and promote from within. Thats a good company and I miss working for a company like that.
Ive been trying to move up and use my degree and 16 years as a sys admin and be a strong Technical manager for guys like me, Colby and Bryan.

Damn that has to be a PITA. We have 10 Helpdesk staff, 8 Sys Admin staff, and 4 Sys Engineers supporting about 1200 users across 14 sites (international). But we have some very demanding users. Only item that I am not a huge fan of (choosing words carefully) is that we are essentially Marketing making decisions for IT and not the other way around....so it can be....challenging.

Yea, IT life is that indeed. We work miracles in a thankless job. We spend our nights and weekends to avoid affecting production hours. We have to deal with people and technical issues cause after all the 8th layer of the OSI model is the human one.
I miss being challenged and tired of losing my duties to subcontracted remote level 1 HD techs.

Before CDI I was a Sr Sys Admin for Tmobile. Just 2 of us handled 72 stores across AZ, 2 switch buildings full of Engineers, 1 65k ft data center and 1 admin and business sales building. I was closing 800 tickets every 6 months and that didnt include my projects! I loved being challenged like that. I learned so much!

You got it man. Ive been dabbling in infosec since I was put at this site. Ive got a lot of experience in many different areas. Ive been making some contacts in Schwab and may make a move there if they open an analyst I position that isnt swing shift. I made friends with the new Sr manager there a few weeks ago. I just missed out being snagged up at LifeLock as a Supervisor. I was so close to getting that one.

Ill keep trying though cause Im hungry for more. I love a company that pays for performance. Schwab is offering 10k yearly bonuses at level 1. I figure that making a lateral move to infosec or moving up are my objectives. Its just a matter of time before someone sees my worth and hires me.
