    Mine locked Into 4lo it had a crack in the seal of the actuator and was leaking oil. No pressure inside i guess is what the dealership told me.

    That's weird. I could have sworn that every 4Runner from 1996-2000 had J-shifters like mine. It wants until 2001 and 2002 that they introduced the Multi-mode transfer case like you're suggesting you have.
