Toyota is just gonna laugh at us, say it's normal, and rake in the cash. Today's Toyota isn't the Toyota of 20 years ago.

Significant? So your truck doesn't move and needs to be towed?

Had my fluid checked at 500miles and it was topped off properly.
Ever since I really stopped visiting this forum I have enjoyed my truck alot more. Removal of all the whiny negative crying from here and the truck is perfectly fine

Mine was fine, and I was able to see the the tech when he checked it. Not everyone has problems. My Tacoma has had zero issues that others have had.

I can see how it would be frustrating, have you tried reporting posts in threads that are causing drama? Let the mods know and give them a chance to remove the troublemakers. they are usually pretty good at taking care of issues...well except if Chris had been drinking

The claim that the trans is low and is going to fail is pure B/S. I could explain at lengthy detail why it won't, but I don’t have to, I have proof!
If these claims were true, all those 2nd Gen with low ATF lvls would be falling apart by now. The trucks are shipped with the ‘required’ ATF amount for proper service in general.
The Trans is sealed and for good reason. Already someone, a well intended soul dropped a cork inside while trying to check it because he read on here that it was low. This fiasco could have cost him 6k and a voided warranty.
The drivetrain and software is new, made to save fuel. But Toyota also gave us the ability to bypass it for even better performance.
This is in the form of a ETC, S mode & manual transmission mode.
It’s not Toyota’s fault if ppl who want better performance don’t use it and just want to complain about it. Fook them I’m tired of their B/S.
There’s threads about U joints being dry?? B/S! They have lube, they’re not pumped shot full to the tilt, but they don’t need to be, they’re not falling apart or failing, get a life PPL the truck is fine!

My truck is awesome! I get up to 24 MPG’s!
    MPG.jpg MPG2.jpg

And it was made in the same assembly line by the same workers as all these cry babies truck.
Having said that, nothing’s perfect. There maybe a couple of real ppl with legit issues but most are trolls with axes to grind.
Hope that helps, enjoy the truck or get VW Jetta hehe!
    Cheers!

He didn't say he was driving a Ford. :boink:

Significant is a fair term in his case.

Funny, I haven't had any issues with my tranny.

He hasn't even listed his exact issues with the transmission. I'm not gonna say that he doesn't have a problem but I have a feeling it's probably fine. Transmission aren't the same way they were 20 years ago. Especially CVT trannys. It's a total different feel. I can see how people think there is an issue but a lot of the time that's really how they are designed. So many threads on here about tranny problems and concerns are doing nothing but getting people paranoid and confused.

Even the Kardashians are suffering from low T and having tranny issues. It is so bad she wants to go back to a first Gen model.

I thought I saw a poll on here recently asking about if you were happy with your truck.... by far most were.

I think some folks are having transmission issues, but I think most of the complaints are really just because this engine/transmission combo makes it's power a little higher in the rpm band than most of us are used to for a pickup and the ECUs are set up to shift a bit to optimize economy.

I think the transmission fluid level isn't really a big deal for 99% of the people reporting issues. I don't think that about a quart low will really have any measureable effect on the transmission.

I've got over 5,500 on my truck and I'm pretty happy still. My only issue is my outside temp seems about 4-5F low from reality and the Sat Radio seems to cut out.... since I recently let the subscription expire, it's not really that big a deal, but I need to check on it in case I want to subscribe later.

My thoughts are that we need more threads about the trans.

Not '16 owner, but considered getting one. had 5 since 1974, a Land Cruiser, Regular P/U, Tacoma 4x2 P/u , a Tacoma 4x4 P/U and my current 4runner, all basically trouble free thru all there years of ownership. I bought Toyota all these years because of their superior quality and legendary longevity. Never had one I didn't enjoy the heck out of just driving it anywhere.
I read this forum because I'm a fan and love Tacomas. It really hurts to see all the issues people are having. I've come to change my way of thinking about Toyota and any future purchases. That is to not make any rash purchase decisions based on emotions for the brand. In the past I'd go down and drive out with it the same day. Now I'd be much more careful doing homework on any prospective purchase. With the issues others are having with the new Tacoma trucks I'd not be buying one. Don't want to roll those dice.
