I am purchasing one of these crossbars this week. I plan on purchasing the Access Vanish Tonneau cover (I think). I need a crossbar that will work in with my soft rollback tonneau which will be supporting my Sears X-Cargo car topper that I have had for year's. All my stickers are on that thing so I can't get a different one :D

Pros? Cons? Recommendation's? I like the blacked out look of the kbvoodoo but I can't find the weight limitations for it.....

Thanks in advance. 4banger loaded with camping gear headed to Estes Park soon hopefully! :fingerscrossed:

Mine are good for everything except RTT's, and they have adjustable height.

Mobtowns are a little stronger I believe, and should work with an RTT.

Both use the same thickness bracket that goes under the cover, so water leakage should be about the same.

I went through this very decision a short while back. I ultimately opted for the KBVoodoo rack for two reasons:

    1) Height adjustability. I like that I can mount my accessories lower to the tonneau if I choose. It will allow me to keep my storage box tucked a bit lower behind the cab

    2) After doing a mock-up of the opposing crossbar shapes, I figured the shape of the Voodoo bars were a better for attaching my accessories.

    * I also liked that Chad's were completely black.

The Mountainous M is a nice touch, without question. You guys both have nice racks:laugh:. I just prefer how yours sits a little lower Chad:laugh:

The silver side plate can be easily removed if you prefer. Theyre fastened on with aluminum pop rivets that can be drilled out with an 1/8" bit.

Like Chad said, the height of ours is fixed and we went this route to increase rigidity. It allowed us to get a higher weight rating to support a RTT. We also have 2 1/2" holes per bracket for high lift, quickfist, ratchet strap hooks or bungees.

Chad's are more adjustable for sure.

Both of these work with the Toyota factory cover.

You can either slide the bars forward and out of the way, or simply pop the crossbar off. One bolt at each end of the crossbars.

I went with mobtown because I have my rtt on it. Also have the hi lift mounted on the sides.

You can mount a hi lift jack to the side of either of them, but go Mobtown for RTT's.

Looks like I am going with Voodoo's because of the multi height options. I am thinking of getting an aluminum roll top instead of the soft (just for added security) and it appears I can roll it under these on the highest position. I have the family with me and we do the whole car camping thing so I don't have an RTT. Thanks for all of the feedback, ordering tonight.

Can you get this for a Backflip tonneau cover. They use a system where they drop the bed rail by about 1 1/2 inches.

Can anyone suggest mounting options for a J-mount for a Kayak or 2?? Or other type of mount?

In case Voodoo is wondering....I am waiting for my Tonneau to come in. I have a concern regarding the placement of the clamps on the deckrail vs the clamp location for any crossbar rack placement that will hold my topper....its huge. Should be ok but I wanted to check that out first.
