^^Yup. A few untouchables on the Oilers. McDavid and Hall being heavy on that list. And of course Talbot. I'd also like to see Draisaitl, Nurse and Klefbom stick around. All others can go.

If it happens I could see the Oilers giving up this year's first round pick, Nail Y, and another high end player to get him. I still doubt it will happen.

Corey's heart left the game after he got that MVP award, and there's too much complacency with he and Getzlaf. It's time to move on and get some faster hungrier talent. And let Cogliano & Kessler lead for a bit... IMO

 

I disagree but will say that I'm tired of Perry trying to bring it in the zone while along the boards just to get pinched off the puck.

I hope with Carlyle coming back he doesn't put Getzlaf and Perry back together. I think the lines need to be works for Perry and with Nate Thompson injured for the season, maybe something will transpire. I did like Perron/Garbutt with Getzlaf. Both of them are willing to crash the net, which tells me they just need to tell Getzlaf to shoot the fucking puck. How many games did he throw away by trying to complete a fancy or drop pass? I believe the game in Chicago was one of them, during Thanksgiving I think? Also, whichever game BB sat Getzlaf out for a whole perod was another.

Whatever they do they cannot break up the Cogliano/Kesler/Silf line. Or maybe I'm partial to Cogliano...the guy is always on someones hip.

It sucks losing him as he is a big upgrade to the old Niemi/Stalock combo, but he would never get out from under Jones's shadow. Good luck to him.

 

What do you think about the whole Thornton/Marleau deal? I thought they were done after this season but apparently they have one more year on their contract. Lots of "fans" are saying they hold the team back and they need to get rid of them. I don't buy it, especially Thornton. Pavelski is awesome, but I'd wager to say he wouldn't be nearly as good as he is without Thornton feeding him pucks all day, and Marleau is still pretty damn quick for his age. I don't know.

 

Agreed, and I have no idea WTF happened to Pavelski in the Finals. He completely disappeared, I was sure he was going to announce some injury after the series, but nothing.

I am excited for next season, most of the team will be in tact. At least for one more year.
