There's nothing better for adjusting a cat's attitude than ambushing it where it jumps 3 ft straight up in the air. Good exercise for it too. :D My wife's cats loved me.....

Praise and give treats when she uses the scratcher as well. That's very helpful

Just as important to reward the good. That wroked when I had to train a very stubborn feline.

Don't declaw. Cats scratch to leave scent and clean nails. Get yourself a cat tower and build some cat shelfs. They will use those to mark there territory.

FWIW ... I would not declaw a cat.

My neighbor had their Tom cat declawed and it got out of the house and got beaten up.

Get her this and she'll love it (it's a scratcher and bed): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004X6UEH6/

Almost every cat I've seen that's declawed becomes scared of their own shadow because their claws are their primary defense (aside from their teeth).

Yep. I made those over the cabinets in the kitchen, and over the top of the patio doors. They *loved* getting way up high and being 'out of reach'. Plus the turbo playtime climb from floor level to 8 feet in the air with 6 directional changes in 0.004 seconds is hi-LARRY-us to watch in action

Thanks guys for all the replies. I have returned with a cat scratching bed thing, anti-scratch spray, a water spray bottle, and cat nip. The couch arrives tomorrow so hopefully all goes well.

Glad she's liking it! With her own little space, she'll probably be even sweeter and want to interact with you more in that area. Good call, I hope it works out for you and the cat!

    Nice.

My wife brought a new one home few months back. She is wild adult. She's doing good but needs something like these.

Also....find treats she likes. Mine had a thing for a particular flavor of the tender vittles soft pouch thingeys. We used those to reinforce the scratching post use.

All depends what you want to get for gas mileage. Maybe you could put an add a leaf on and try some bilstein 5100's and see what happens. Its Tacoma world!

She's bored and needs toys to play with is one of the problems . I've got (3) 3 yr old male Mainecoon , 7 yr old female tuxedo cat and a 6 yr old female Calico

I've got two scratching posts and a angled scratching board so they can stretch and exercise their claws . I use cat scratching repellant on my furniture and it works very well in keeping my furniture from being shredded

Like I mentioned she's bored so get her some good toys that she can be interactive with like a string tied to a door or ?? . Also give her cat grass so she can eat it

I don't think it's quite THAT severe, according to my vet it's the equivalent of having your entire fingernail pried off. Which of course would still equate to excruciating pain.

Moral of the story, you're a dick if you declaw your cat....don't do it. Get him/her a scratching post (a few if you need to).

That's the best part! When they get the zummys, they learn to fly up and down those things. Every now and then they miss a step. Then it's like a fury pinball coming back down
