Bilstein 5100 w/ OME 885

You would be sitting a bit higher for sure. Overall I'm very happy with the single AAL's. I don't know if I would really need anything stiffer unless your going to be hauling some pretty good weight. I don't have any pictures of it without the weight just because my sleeper is installed in the truck and its hard to remove along with the topper. You won't be disappointed with this set up though!

 

Looks great. Did you leave in the overload? This is the way I'm leaning if I do the rear. Did you get any vibrations from adding the leaf?. I'm running 884 coils in the front. Thanks

 

so than i might not need the 3 leaf pack?
and could get away with the single?
is there a difference lift wise?
I pwas orig going to get the icon 3 leaf pack but they said there has been some known problems with settling with those

 

I did 5100's all the way around with 885's and a 2" aal in the rear with a 1/4" spacer to compensate the drivers side lean. I did 2" in the rear instead of a 1.5' aal cause I have a topper. With this lift I achieved 2.5 in the front and almost 3 in the rear. I love it and it rides better than stock.

 

Yep - left the overload in. No vibrations at all. Have some noise in the front differential needle bearing immediately after lifting the front but that's a known issue and I'll be resolving shortly.

 

i have a tonneau cover on my truck if that matters.

 

No it wont the topper i have is just about 300 additional weight to the rear which lowers the truck a lil

single Deaver or headstrong's 3 leaf aal

was going to get the icon progressive aal but headstrong said people have had problems with them settling

i read on here not to get a single aal because it"ll ride like shit.

im talking to HS about the kit their closed till like next week so i have to wait for them to get back to me with answers on all my questions

so far i know im going to do the 885's and 5100's
and from what i have read you set the 5100's at 0 and let the coil's do the lift

 

Yes thats true thats the setup i have in the front i have a single 2" aal in the rear and my truck rides nice.

 

No ride issues with the single AAL here. Creaks a little as of a couple of days ago so I'm getting under there to check tightness, etc. Needs a good cleaning too. Not overly concerned.

Lift is 5100's @ 0", 885X's, 1/2" spacer on drivers side to get front level. (Most seem to do it with 1/4" spacer) Front lift measures 2-5/8" from stock ride height. Rear is 5100's, Deavers 2" AAL, Headstrong U-bolt flip kit. Rear is full 2" above stock ride height.

Ride is excellent, front AND rear. Low speeds are much like stock when it was new. High speeds (interstate) is far better than stock ride. Off road it has plenty of flex, firm enough to handle a load (that a Tacoma should be hauling) I have a restored Airstream travel trailer. I've pulled it a few times. The suspension is more than capable of pulling what the truck has power enough to pull... Braking is solid and straight, no nose diving or fishtailing.

Personally, I don't know what else I could ask of a lift kit. This is my 17th 4wd over 42 years, 4th Tacoma, and I drive well over 30,000 miles a year. I'm not an "expert", but not a first timer either....

 

that looks great! yeah have to decide which leaf's i want to get, also i plan on running stock uca's
you didnt have any problems with alignment did you?

 

I kept my stock UCA's.....and got ideal alignment numbers. (2.9* caster) still in the middle of adjustment range. The truck drives straight, handles BETTER than it did stock, and has room to lift it more. I MAY throw in a 1/2" spacer each side and bring it to a full 3" at some point. I'm sorta OCD about my trucks....Gotta be PERFECT before I'm happy....

And I'm happy!

Like I said, it all depends if your hauling but if you have a topper there is a little extra weight. Overall 250-300 lbs shouldn't make you sag all that much. If you do the single AAL you wont need to change the U bolt assembly but if you choose the 3 leaf you will more then likely need new nuts and bolts due to lack of length. With my single AAl's I able to just use the factory bolts they supplied with the TSB replacement leaf pack. The 3 AAls will def be more rigid and may create quite a stiffer ride. so that could make it a little more of a uncomfortable ride. I would suggest going with the single and adding a 1/4 or 1/2" spacer depending on how much more lift you need, especially if your going to be running empty most of the time. Overall i really enjoy the feeling with a single AAL

Just installed 5100s all around and 885 coils along with the AAL I've had for a few years. Everything worked out fine with the lift but my only issue came with my alignment. Drivers side cam is froze up. Has anyone else had this issue?

 

If you are referring to the lower cam bolts then yes. Here is a possible solution from @DoorDing.
