No. I'll be hanging out with my girlfriend and her kids before flying up to Minnesota to bring my son down for his summer vacation. I've got the whole modern family thing going on this weekend lol

    Yes,
I am in the oil field as well. qpq (melonite coating) does resist pitting from corosive elements, but, with continous friction from other component that are 41xx base, It doesn't last as long, compared to 13 chrome material components that are put to the same testing. Hard chrome plating, has been proven in our facility using 13 chrome materials plated to out last qpq.

Dang I completely forgot about Radflow.

Hmmm, Hydraulic components you say! You got any room for recent Mechanical engineering grad with lots of design experience and some manufacturing experience?

Interesting. I have an engineering degree but have been in management for a long time and seldom get to delve deep into the details anymore. With that said I am the one who gets to figure out how to fix the problems on the repair and recert jobs we get. We've been seeing more and more of our competitors equipment coming in with this coating, and compared to equipment of a similar age and installation background the hard chrome seems to be inferior every time. With that said, I fully understand that not every company's hard chrome or tungsten carbide coating is the same, and there are always other factors at play, but I've been impressed with the examples of QPQ/melonite I've seen so far. Either way, I know my last set of SAW and ICONs both had pitting in the chrome so I'd love to see a better option out there, one way or the other

Sadly no. O&G is not a good place to be right now, even though I'm seeing a few positive signs at the moment.

Out of curiosity, are you saying in direct contact with other 41xx materials (metal on metal), or with a elastomer or wear band material between the two? I'm a few beers in tonight and a little cloudy but still interested in the results you've seen

Oh I know. Only 10% of my graduating class have found jobs. I was fortunate enough to get an offer from a company on the process side of O&G. Today an email went out stating the company is accepting voluntary separation(severance included) to employees over 55. That tells me the outlook for the next year is not good.
