Sounds like a carb rebuild might be in order.

yea if it comes to that, ill probably just buy a new carb. everything ive heard is that theyre so cheap now that its best just to start new. I was talking to a small engines shop and anytime someone brings something in, that's the first thing they do is just replace the carb.

Those things are junk I threw to practically brand new ones away cuz they would only run like 3 months & do the same thing yours is doing. Ryobi told me the carbs wasn't any good & they wouldn't fix them under warranty

well shit. this is an older one so hopefully it doesn't quite fall under the same category. served us well as I was growing up. I think dad kept it running fine from maybe 95-07. then letting it sit screwed it up for me, but hey, ill do a little work to free trimmer to get it running. as long as it doesn't start to cost more than a new one would. so far im $8 in the hole thanks to free shipping from Amazon prime.

yea I definitely know better, but I honestly didn't even expect to get her running so I just filled up the can while I was filling up the truck.

I just borrowed my father in laws Husqvarna, replaces the jello fuel lines. Ethanol does wonders to this stuff when left to sit. Best to run non ethanol all the time.
I also have 2 lawnboy mowers with the duraforce engine. The one runs ok but the other had no spark, replaced the coil and plug now have spark, but still doesn't start. Carb looked clean until I opened the fuel bowl, no gas. The float was a bit moldy and the float valve was gummed shut from ethanol and the chrome plating stripped from the water the ethanol absorbs. New float and valve for both will be here today.

@EricL The air in the lines comments aren't very accurate. You can't purge air on these kinds of 2 strokes, nor do you need to. They suck gas in by way of venturi effect in the carb. The primer bulb is to push fuel to the carb before air is flowing. Air in the line doesn't matter.

Anyone have XM in their Tacoma?

Driving home from an AM case in Oconee Medical Ctr, XM 18 used to be "Road Trip Radio". :headbang:

Now, XM 18 is "Yacht Rock Radio" o_O

    Wtf??? :annoyed:

I have a troy bilt trimmer and mower, and both have been pretty good to me. The trimmer carb was rebuilt earlier this year after sitting outside all fall and winter, but the mower has been solid.

    I would agree.
For me- i need it. I have lots of long drives. My wife haggles with them for a lower price, lol. She calls to cancel, haggles, then they offer another super low 6 week pakage or so. We've been doing it for years!

I kinda like palmetto outfitters.. though there's a shop in Charleston by the same name. Palmetto Overland sounds good too.
