OZBoost turbo group buy 2TR-FE and 3RZ

Nice! There's a guy on the for sale forum with a +3.5 Total Chaos kit for sale. Everything but the axle shafts I think.

 

Looks like he is a 5 lug. Nice turbo long travel prerunner.

 

Oh I'll check it out. This is 2wd so I shouldn't need axle shafts anyways. I'll have to check to see if that one is 5 lug

 

That is a 6 lug kit though. I'd check out @KirkRio build. He switched out a good amount of parts on the OZ kit to more reliable parts.

 

Yeah I've been reading a lot of his stuff. I plan to use this as a starting kit and then build off it and eventually be running a little higher than the 5-7 psi boost it is set up for. I'm curious how much he had to bend his AC lines because he mentioned that a few times. I'll definitely get a new fpr per his recommendation and probably that ecu piggyback they mentioned earlier as well

Are you MadTaco's brother? Another prerunner that will be bad ass when done. Looking forward to how the kit works out for you. What state are you in? Cali is quite hard to get any kit to run without smog issues later

 

I'm new to this forum so I will have to get o know everyone haha but yes I am from CA. I just got my new smog last month (can't believe I passed) so I have 2 years til I have to worry about it. I may be able to pass smog with a turbo but if not my family has a house in Lake Havasu, AZ so I will register there where there is no smog

 

AZ has no smog requirement? That's a modder's dream. For sure you won't pass visual inspection.... even with a header would be a problem...I'll need to find out end of this year I think.

 

Certain parts of AZ do and others don't. I'm pretty sure only Phoenix and Tucson areas require it. I know you don't need it in Lake Havasu. Kind of odd I know

 

Sometimes it varies by county. Here in PA Allegheny County requires it. My brother lives in the next county over in Uniontown (Fayette County) and they do not require any emissions testing.

@Desertrunner33 Where did you end up ordering the kit? Is buying just the exhaust manifold an option?

 

I got it from ebay. The ozboost site says worldwide shipping but then when you go to check out it was saying sorry we don't ship to the United states so then I went to ebay and couldn't add it to my cart for some reason so I called their tech support line and they helped. I guess because it's an Australian item you can't add it to an American shopping cart so I had to go to ebay.com.au and then do it and then it worked fine.

As far as buying them separately I don't know if it's a possibility but I saw a lot of other people talking about it

 

Does this turbo only use one side of the exhaust. Shouldn't you combine both exhaust manifolds befor sending into turbo.

 

this kit is for the 4 cylinder. It only has one manifold.

 

Well now that makes more sense

 

Just so you know most turbo set ups only use one side of the engine to spin the turbo (v8, v6). Really the only time you use both sides would be in a twin turbo set up. One for each side obviously. Someone correct me if I'm wrong
