Yeah I wish that I had some sort of challenge. This current job that I have had for the past 5-6 years started of being fairly busy while also providing a good tech challenge. Now after some restructuring and loosing over 50% of all staff it has become no fun. Also with them not wanting to spend any money I am working with some old stuff and making things work with what we have. Only plus is that with this job I am not putting in many after hours or weekend work like I did for the past few jobs.

This position does not report directly to me, but the person would work very closely with my team if anyone is interested. We have had a hard time filing the position as the previous guy knew exactly what he was getting into but then 45 days in decided he didn't want to do security anymore and went back to his old job. This left me starting and completing my 1st ever PCI DSS 3.1 audit.

iJonny or anyone else that is truly interested PM me and we can get the ball rolling!

Your last Engineer mustve shit his pants when that back door code was found in Juniper hardware. We got rid of our Juniper servers and went DA some time ago. Thats a rough role and im not ready for that yet. @JerryTaco or @signalbobby may know someone though. Thats right up their alley.

I don't know anyone off the top of my head. We are snagging up QSA's and Pen Testers anytime we can find good one's. But if it's PCI you need help with, yeah, we definitely got you there. If you've never done a level 1 3.1 audit, it had to have sacked, especially if you didn't have a good QSA that educated and mentored you through the process. We work with first timers quite a bit, actually mid audit on a few now, however thankfully all are on time and going very smooth. Who was your QSA if you don't mind me asking?

Thankfully we had some awesome auditors to work with, so it made the process bearable. I just sucked as I had to put most of my focus into that audit, while still having a team to manage and a lot of other projects. But we got our signed ROC on June 1st!

That's good! A good QSA is key. We take on a lot of first time Level 1 PCI clients and include a lot of training to ensure it goes as smooth as possible. How long did your assessment take?

Cox having issues again. Snobsdale is mostly down, Tempe is spotty, Mesa seems to be ok, Chandler is down/spotty. My house is down, work office is now choked down to 10mb, typically we get 500mb+ down.

Outsourcing a help desk and staffing it with low paid monkeys with what seems to be maybe a HS diploma and no IT experience is a great idea.
