It's not at all the same as the topic of this thread. This thread is about an RPM related vibration. This has been stated many times in this thread.

If this buzz is prevalent in the TRD sports and not the TRD OR, has anyone thought it may be a driveline/differential issue? They use the same transmission, so that should leave either the driveline or the differential, since the OR uses the elocker and not the 8.4".

Unfortunately, it has been found across the models and in both the A/T and the M/T. The only ones that don't have it are those trucks with the old 4 Cylinder. We had originally thought it was only the A/T's; however, it was just a lack of numbers when the truck came out and as more M/T's were sold, some buyers came on both here and at toyotanation.com who had the M/T and said they had it, too.

Ah ok. So we're back to an engine issue.

It really seems to be....and it seems focused on both the engine mounts, which in the Lexus version of this engine has oil filled electronically controlled mounts vs the hard rubber in the Taco, and the exhaust system, which is different, too, than how Lexus mounted theirs. Some have gotten moderate relief changing exhaust systems; however, no one, as of yet, has been able to eliminate it.

Well, wife got tired of me complaining about Toyota not doing anything about the truck's buzziness and basically told me she loved the Ridgeline (no comparison, she said, to either the Taco or the Canyon), and either trade the Taco and buy the Ridgeline, or just stop complaining about the Taco and stop borrowing her car for long trips. She basically told me that it was stressing me (and her) out too much and thought I'd have (another) heart attack. I spoke with the sales manager at the Honda dealership and we came to an agreed upon price on the color my wife wanted...pearl white with black leather interior AWD RTL-E. Taco is now gone. Will pick up new Ridgeline on Monday after they put on a front clear bra, window tint, body side moldings, and mud flaps front and rear. The financial hit hurt quite a bit; however, now I'm relieved (and so is she....).

I'm very happily married and plan to stay that way! I decided it best to take her advice (she's a very smart woman), and it was good advice. She knew that, overall, I liked a lot about the Taco and just wanted it fixed; however, my blood pressure is already down and I feel I had a giant weight taken off my shoulders.

Been a long trip...here's hoping Toyota will step up to the plate for those of you still waiting for a fix. I don't tow and I think the Ridgeline will do just fine on the semi-graded fire roads and dirt roads I spend time on. It drives and handles amazingly well and the driver's position is quite adjustable (unlike the Taco) and I took it for a long test drive and could find no 'buzziness' at all at any speed or in any gear.

Will monitor here to see if they ever take care of all of you with the issue. Not to sure I will ever buy a Toyota again. Disappointed in both my dealer (who I've bought several Toyota's from but was totally hands off on this issue) and Toyota Corporate.

    Again, good luck!

Well Doobie, thanks for all you've contributed so far to this thread. Hope you enjoy the Ridgeline. My parents were set on a new Tacoma but after driving/riding in mine they actually decided against getting one and are looking closely at the Ridgeline as well. Hope you call Toyota Corporate one last time and let them know your final decision and why!

Will be interesting to see down the line if a new member with a used 2016 Blazing Blue Pearl Tacoma Limited 4x4 shows up with a buzzy vibration issue :anonymous:

I can relate to that! I've been happily married for 23 years! If you would have decided to keep the Tacoma you would have never heard the end of it!!! Besides, if you find out you don't like the Ridgeline it's her fault...smart move! :)

    Good luck!!!

Of all the issues I have this one is the least irritating to me...and I'm thankful for that because if it buzzed anymore that it does, I would be in the same boat as you. Can you keep coming back and updating us on the ridgeline?

I'm curious to see how those turn out.

Well that's it, I stayed on the sidelines long enough, so I joined this sight and Here's my 2 cents (don't like it-don't care). I have a 2016 Tacoma sport quad cab AT with this vibration and the recently written shutter issue at the speeds/RPM's noted by others. I currently have 9500km on this truck that I owned since November 2015, build date is October 2015 from Texas (in case anyone's keeping score). I have been annoyed with the issues just like everyone else. I have vibration in the throttle pedal and steering wheel and if there is vibration anywhere else I don't notice it, including passenger areas. I have done the road force twice by 2 different companies and rotated them, Shutter was still there. I Even thought it was due aero dynamics, so I bought a bed cover (did not fix it, but I found that I did the bed cover). I know this thread isn't about the shutter and its about the vibration but I believe the 2 may be somewhat linked, even a little bit.

Over the past months I have tried multiple things that people here thought might be the issue, except change the exhaust (I will hold for now on that one). Over the last 3 weeks I decided to try something different, shifting the truck semi-manually. This is what I noticed (sorry my American counterparts this is gong to be in Metric). the vibration is significantly lower when I get in and slap the leaver to S mode and start my drive in 4th. When I reach 65-70km/h I shift to 5th, when I'm over 90km/h I shift to 6th or leave in 5th depending on what's coming up (basically shift up when I approach 2000rpms). This truck stays out of the lower vibration range of 1000-1100rpms felt in the peddle and shifts down faster in 4th & 5th if a hill comes up (even a slight hill) and goes through the 2000-2100 rpm range quicker. Basically this truck responds as a I believe an automatic transmission should respond (got tired of it "learning" how I drive, my tundra was also like this but I just added more gas and the v8 did the rest).

Now for the shudder. I removed the lower spoiler and noticed some improvement, I also noticed that shifting into 6th manually (and leaving in manual mode) at 100-115km/h (50mph-65mph?) that it cruises at 1900ish RPM, out of the 2000 range and little to no vibration or shudder is felt. Sorry don't get to go over 120 km/70mph much around here but when I do I really don't notice either shutter or vibration. here's something, when I do cruise and just hold my speed for a short time at 120 the exhaust note barley noticeable and niether is the vibration, but apply gas in the dreaded 2000rpm range and the exhaust note comes back so is vibration (still no real shutter).

Yes I have taken out a of couple of newer models with Dec 2015 and April 2016 build dates. the April 2016 did not have any steering vibration whatsoever, but it did have the pedal vibration, the dec 2015 had both.

In case you are wandering, Gas Mileage according mileage travelled and gas put into the tank (my preferred method) has not really Changed, last tank was 475km / 65 litres to fill. I could have gone 500ish but the gas station was right there and I was thirsty, that's 80% city and 20% highway.

Is it a fix -NO, but it has made the truck bareable until Toyota fixes it (hahahaha). It will be interesting to see if the 2017 model year has it. If it doesnt I bet there will be some law suits coming.

I am wandering who continues to come onto this thread and posts that they have no issues whatsoever. Perhaps Toyota employees trying to keep the Tacoma dream alive to those who are wishing that it is just a select few of us so they can sell more trucks. If you don't believe us then go try/buy one and I hope that there are some that never experience this issue.

I DO like this truck and with this one exception, it does everything else that I expected it to and yes consumer report, I like the car like seating position (6'1") and I can easily reach the screen and so can my wife (5'4"). However this vibration is the only annoying exception. I have owned and driven newer and older lesser vehicles that don't have this, as Toyota says "it's normal" issues. hell my 77 VW rabbit when I was 16 didn't vibrate or shudder this much even after I hit a fence post with it. My Dodge Ram with a 5.9l diesel did not vibrate or shutter at all.

I hope this exhaust thing works out for those who switched, maybe rerouting the drivers exhaust behind the tranny might be better then than in front is the solution (4runners do it this way).

I apologize for any errors in spelling or grammar.

Hey Doobiewah, I've been monitoring this thread for a while, and I just solved my vibrations/shudder today (also seemed to lessen the buzz a little). Not that I'm sure what tires come on the Limited, but if interested check out my thread :)

Sorry, didn't see that last one about you trading to the Ridgeline, oh well.

I have seen this one before. Wife sees that you aren't happy with your choice, so instead of steering you to your second choice, she steers you to her first choice. You are what they call "trained".

In all seriousness a vehicle isn't worth a heart attack, good call on both of your parts. Enjoy the new ride!

I am one who continues to come here to read (first comment), I'm not a Toyota dealer, salesperson, or anything else related to Toyota other than being a satisfied Tacoma owner since 1999. I have no problems with my 2016 (yet) but it's interesting to see what I may have to go through in the future.

Just at the dealer now. My truck has 600km on it, the vibration seems to be the same as everyone else is experiencing, between 115-125km/hr, in and around 1800-2300 rpm and while in 5th gear (dcsb 4x4 TRD sport a/t). The tech told me this is a known issue and is believed to be caused by the engine mount being too rigid. I've basically been told there is nothing they can do until Toyota comes out with a fix, which would likely end up resulting in a recall for us '16 owners.

Looks like I will be calling Toyota when I get home to hopefully get a better explanation of why my 40+k truck is shipped with a garbage engine mount.

Well you sure got a lot further than most people with the tech saying it is a known issue! Wow, that actually gives some hope. Up until now it has either been "normal" or "wow, we've never heard of that"

They said its "normal" to have happen but agreed that it shouldn't be a normal characteristics. Need to wait a few hours to call Toyota corporate so that my file will have time to be uploaded and reviewed, I anticipate headaches to come. Will update any progress

My guess is that the tech is on Tacomaworld and was just repeating what he read in this thread.

Have a vibration in my new Tacoma, service manager thinks I am feeling exhaust system resonance, and of course won't admit to feeling anything himself.
Been trying to catch up on this thread ,seems to be some great input.

Anyone tried messing with the air intake resonator?
