The manufacturer is Rugged Cover. It is the soft tri-fold with a battery operated led light mounted in it from the factory. I have no complaints about it.

Wasn't sure whether to go 4 or 6 cyl. live in FL where its flat. Not towing anything and thought I would opt for better gas mileage. I know its negligible but the best deal was for one in stock AutoNation Pinellas Park was great to deal with! Guess I will find out!

Nothing wrong with access cabs, but when you need the extra room for kids and what have you then the double cab sure is nice to have

What is the HP and L on the 4CYL? Is it adequate for the DC? Beautiful truck, congrats!

I bought the DC because I have two dogs we travel with and if I use the bed its usually only for home landscaping items or camping gear. The biggest average load i'll have is my mountain bikes.

I drove a DC and AC with 4cyl and V6 when I was looking to purchase and was not impressed with the 4cyl in DC or AC, IMO the truck is just too heavy for the 2.7L.

Yep, we sure do, I love my AC but as others have said, it`s all about what suits your needs and wants.

Did you feel the 4CYL was significantly underpowered? What is the weight difference of the DC vs AC?

Old folks like me who only carry an occasional Grandkid love Access Cabs. I had a double and the only rear seat use was carrying my lunchbox or raincoat. They fit well in my access too.

Yes, I felt like it was under powered, I drove just about every combination that the 3rd gen comes in and if I remember correctly the weight difference in the AC and DC is very small if any. I`d have to look up the numbers again.

I just feel like the 4cyl does not have enough power for a 4k lb truck and I have driven a 2.4L since 1998, however, the 1st gens were lighter.

For those that do not need or want the extra power I`m sure they are happy with the 2.7L in the 3rd Gen.

Just got it, TRD off-road MT. It's fun to be shifting gears again, can't wait to build it up.

I had a reg cab 2000 prerunner 2.7 and a 2008 double cab prerunner 4.0. Both of them had ample power. My 2016 Access cab with a 3.5 seems under powered. Nowhere near the power of my 4.0. It does get better mpg than my 2.7 reg cab did but at the price of horsepower. I still do not believe the 3.5 has more hp than the 4.0 unless it is at a 5000+ rpm power band which I never see in my daily drive. The main reasons I bought the 3.5 were tow capacity in case I ever need it, it was the only option in a TRD Sport and the fact it gets the same or better mpg than the 2.7. I never test drove the 2016 with a 2.7 simply based on mpg comparisons. I guess those on a stringent budget would get a 2.7 since it is standard in the SR and SR5 base models. I know my old 2.7 is closing in on 190k miles and never has had as much as a gasket replaced on it. Nothing more than routine hoses belts and a set of solenoids that turned out to be a broken wire on the tranny solenoid harness.

Here we go again. It's already been proven on the dyno and the track that the 3.5 is faster than the 4.0. It puts out more hp with almost no difference in tq on the dyno. As well as a better torque curve. Just look at any of the dyno threads.

    Yep:thumbsup:

The 2.7 is a great engine, there is no doubting it, but with a 4k Lb truck it just doesn't cut it for me, which is why I bought the V6

The 2.4L was a great engine as well but there is no way I would want it in a 4k Lb truck, in the 1st Gen it was fine, my 01 had 170k miles on it, it was not leaking nor burning oil, the only thing that I had to replace on that truck was a clutch master cylinder gasket.
