Have to admit, its the first time Ive ever heard of a supercharger on a 4cyl engine....turbos, all day long.

The beating a supercharger puts on an engine is amplified even more on fewer cylinders. At times my roots style S/C would heat up the 5.0 mustang with some parasitic power loss, especially after a long run. Its like putting a heater on top of your engine. I sold it before the inevitable engine problems...everyone I know with one has had it sitting in a specialized shop at some point.

Some of the 2017 trucks are coming out in Diesel 4 cyl and twin turbos.

Heck , why not just go with a F3 Procharger and fab up a mount so it'll fit a 2.7 4cyl

Must be a Tacoma thing! Then again, Ive had Mustangs and Corvettes my whole life...first go at a V6 truck.

At some point I will experiment with a S/C or turbo on the 2016 Tac Sport...currently theres nothing out there for that model year so, for now, its an exhaust swap and CAI. It was laggy as hell before finding the ECT button and adding a high flow filter. Hurry up AFE with that CAI!

Can I get some info on your 2.7 supercharged Tacoma? Did you buy it with it on the engine already? If not, I can't seem to find any kits for my truck!

I'm the 2nd owner and the truck only has 55k miles , the PO did all the mods to the 4 cylinder just a year after buying it from the dealer . He had the dealer install a TRD gen II Black case supercharger with 4.5 lbs boost . Also at the same time he had the dealer reflash the computer , install a K&N CAI and Gibson cat back

I'm adding a Doug Thorley TRI Y shortie header and will be going to 2.50" exh and Flowmaster muffler

only time I regret the 2.7 on my 2016 is when the wind is blowing any direction but directly behind me. And any hill bigger than a fire ant mound. Other than that, its fine!

Sell it and get a 6. Life is too short to hate a long term purchase. I assume it is an auto? Gen 3 is a few hundred pounds heavier too.

yes, auto 6 speed. That was partly tongue in cheek. It buzzes around town pretty well especially with the ECT on, but on the hiway, it gets bitch slapped by anything other than flat hiways, calm days. I tried to get a deal for a V6 swap with the dealer, but I would have to eat $4000+ in difference, so I'm stuck with it for awhile !

Have had no issues, can tow my heavy ass BRP Utopia around, can tow 2 quads on a trailer, seadoo and gets from a to b with good fuel economy. Beds great to throw whatever in. I don't own 37 horses or have a 50 foot trailer so no need for the v6.

glad it fits your needs. I just wish it performed better on the hiway, where I spend a lot of time. Dont know it for a fact, but I read on a different forum that the 2.7 Tacoma is Toyotas worst power to weight ratio vehicle. Even the Prius and Yaris are better....the Yaris.....

I don't know about power to weight ratio's but the 2.7 seems to be getting legendary attention as far as longevity and reliability from what I have read. These 2.7's ARE gutless wonders and they have to be revved if anyone wants any power out of them and even then they are gutless at 7000ft or even at sea level but revving to 4000 rpm doesn't hurt them at all from what I can tell. I very rarely have any occasion to rev mine that high and for the most part do it just to do it since I don't haul heavy loads. The lack of maintenance is what I love about the 2.7. I can't find anything to do to this thing on a very regular basis. The 2.7 doesn't have all the wiz-bang technology and it gets worse gas mileage than other vehicles but It's probably about the most reliable and maintenance free vehicle out there especially since mine is a 1st gen. Lack of mandatory maintenance saves a lot of time and money.
The Prius and the Yaris aren't pick-ups and as far as I am concerned I wouldn't see any use nor be seen dead in a "go-kart" like that. There is nothing they are good for in my mind except driving to work and back in one of the nation's sewers where there is too much traffic and far too many people. Comparing a pick-up which can actually haul something more than a box of donuts and go somewhere besides the local gym or work to a go-kart just isn't fair.

All season mats, 2nd filter delete, DT header, Jardine cat-back, URD shifter, Bilstein 5100's all around at .85 front with Eibachs + .25 passenger/.5 drivers spacers and 1.5 AAL, 0w20 synthetic, Scanguage II, extra D rings, OEM backup camera+Mirror, bed mat, Extang Solid Fold, Popnlock 5300, Pro Comp 7089's 4.5bs 285/70/17 Revo 2s, De-badged
Other then the days Im towing I would never trade my 2.7 for the 4L. Obviously its nice to have power but I dont need it. I can still tow the things I want other then my ATV in the bed and camper behind me at the same time, but it makes me over my GVWR which is more an issue then the lack of power. Everyone has their preference, and mine was the 2.7 then and pretty much still now 6 years later

Ive never had a serious complaint with my 07, AC, 4x4, 4 cyl until recently. When most of my driving was around town, or just going to the river, it was fine. Now that I'm working for myself again, and driving 55 miles each way for a lot of my jobs, it's starting to wear on me. There's a long, steep grade going each way that really bogs it down. I have a camper shell and 265/75/16's which don't help, and she's ready for a tune up, but my mileage is down to 18-19.5. When I bought if 4 years ago (same size tires but no camper shell), it got a minimum of 20 mpg no matter what. I really should be working out of a van or a full size with a shell and a trailer. I'd like to get a 6x10 cargo trailer, but I can't see pulling sandstone mountain with a trailer behind it, even though I won't need the trailer daily, it still will get used fairly often. I really want a v6 DCLB 4x4, but my budget is limited right now and a new house is more of a priority. So, I'll need to make this truck work for me for another year. I'm hoping the tune up will help, and I'm seriously considering an LCE header. I'd just regear to 4:56's, but hate the thought of putting that money into a truck I'll be trading in a year.
