Oh haha DCSB! That's Double Cab Short Bed. That's what I got too. But off-road. Stiff ass bumpy ride with the off-road package, but I still love it lol

For what it's worth, I've always owned Chevy trucks, particularly the Z71 models. In 2012 I decided to buy a Tacoma. Reluctant at first, because I knew what to expect from Chevy and what was "normal" but wanted something smaller that got better mileage. I fell in love with the Tacoma's almost instantly. There were things that aggravated me that I wasn't use to on Toyota's. Vibrations when accelerating, whistling noises at highway speed, and the infamous"clunking" in the transmission or rear end.(TRD OR DC auto with the V6) I stressed and took it in and they said it was fine. I quit worrying about the issues and drove the wheels off it, literally 200k miles in 4 years. It never let me down. Traded in January for a 16 TRD OR with the infamous trans problem, slipping from R to D when cold. Thinking it was low on fluid I took it in, it wasn't. The service guy said Toyota was coming out with a new download soon and they would contact me it was available. Oh, and the brakes would shutter when slowing to a stop, like a warped rotor with less than 500 miles at the time. Still, the tech stated " could not duplicate". I quit worrying about it and have just been driving it. It has a warranty. I now have almost 15k miles on it. The trans stopped slipping at around 5 to 6k miles and the brakes quit shuttering too. I guess they must've worn in. My trans doesn't shift erratic anymore. At all. The tech did say there was a "learning curve" for the shift sequence. Don't know if that's true but, it feels like a whole different truck than what it did when I first bought it. It has a substantial gain in power and performance from when it was new. Just drive it and enjoy it. Everything new has issues, especially a first model year. I will say that the 16 pulls my 19 foot bass boat A LOT better than the 12 did. The 12 did feel maybe a little quicker with nothing hooked to it but with a load(3800lbs) the new 3.5 really outshines the 4 litre. Once they get some miles on them the performance is noticeably better, or that has been the case with mine anyway.

I'll be happy when my turd generation Tacoma goes to the dealership for the last time next week. I've never owned a new truck that's been in the shop half of its life until this one. And I've had plenty of fords in the past.
Toyota dropped the ball on the turd generations for sure

Three months and no issues so far, I must have a defective Tacoma. I am going to bring it in and tell them that my transmission isn't slipping like its supposed to and I cant hear a howling noise coming from the front lower control arms and ask if they can put some coke bottles under the truck for me :luvya:

I love how all the people who aren't having trouble are smugly commenting on how their trucks are trouble free, like it's some sort of badge of honor or something. Funny thing is, it's a new vehicle, people. It's NOT supposed to have any issues, especially those that are bragging that have a few thousand miles on their trucks. Not impressed. Come back when you have 50,000-100,000 miles and brag, then I'll be impressed.

I find it interesting that you continue to complain and belittle those that ARE happy with their purchases because as of now, many ARE problem free, that we are fools happily drinking the Toyota Kool Aid because we are not having the same problems you report to have.

    Get over yourself.

Impressing you is not important to me, being genuinely happy with my purchase is.

You're the only person who I seem to be striking a nerve with. It's just my opinion, just like everyone else's response is just their opinion. I know you may not think so since you apparently believe you're important for whatever reason, but my posts aren't directed specifically at you, so stop flattering yourself. I think the thing is many others read everyone else posts and regardless if they like it or not, they don't take it personally, maybe have a chuckle or whatever, agree or disagree, and move on. You on the other hand seem to be following me from thread to thread. I think you're the one who needs to get over yourself, sir. If I bother you that much why don't you just do what other members do who don't like someone's posts do...hit the ignore button! You'd be doing us both a favor!

Yes it has happened but they have also had many people trying to help them diagnose their issues. When they, the person with issues become hostile in almost every post, I take notice.

Hostile? Given the fact that you follow me from thread to thread I think you're the hostile one. Simply because I disagree with you means I'm hostile? That's a new one. You should practice what you preach and take some of your own advice and stop trying to impress the rest of us here and go enjoy your truck! I enjoyed mine today on a really nice drive this morning to a secluded beach down a windy road with amazing views of the coast here right after the sun came up with my dog riding in the back in the brand new camper shell I put on the truck. Was awesome! What did you do?!

I may not be happy with the transmission or the way Toyota has handled the issues I've had so far, but aside from that the truck is fine. But that doesn't mean I don't have the right to share my experience and the lack of customer service on Toyota's part. It also doesn't mean I don't have the right to share that I think it's hilarious that so many are jumping for joy that they haven't had any issues after a few thousand miles. I just find that funny. Just as much as you share how much you love your truck, those of us who are having or have had significant issues have the right to share. Again, if you don't like it, just hit the ignore button and you won't lose any more sleep getting all fired up about what I have to say on here.

Also, given the amount of bitching you do about my posts and how much you love your truck, I'd put money on it that if you were the one having issues with your truck you'd be one of the biggest loudmouths on here telling us all about it just like all the people you're so critical of.

Its nothing, I've been happy with my purchase, figured out how to drive the truck to suit my needs and have been very pleased with the results.

He's not been happy and is very vocal about why he's not happy. No problem, bad trucks roll off the line with every manufacturer so get fixed or dump the truck because complaining on the internet does not get it fixed. Complain to the people in a position to fix it or sell it and move on.

I have had to deal with Toyota Customer Care before, I've had 5 trucks and not every one has been a jewel. Difference is I just don't sit around and complain on the internet about it, I take my problems to the people that can fix them and go on my merry way.

Look into the problems on 80's trucks, beds rusting away.

Look into the recalls on 3.0. V6 head gaskets and sludge build up.

Look into paint failures on 90's era trucks.

    Look into Taco Lean.

Look into frame replacements on 1st gen trucks.

Look into truck recalls over the last 30 years.

I've had plenty of problems in my 4 previous trucks to contend with but I learned how to deal with or get them corrected long before TW was around.

This, exactly! Shit happens, especially with a first year redesign. What isn't acceptable is the way Toyota has handled the issue. Took three trips to the dealership before getting them to check the transmission fluid which ended up being low and resetting the transmission and ECU memory, which is what I asked for on day one. So far so good, but having to go in on three separate occasions and two different dealerships and finally leave the truck there for several days is unacceptable, especially when there are more and more people having the exact same issues. Instead of acknowledging the issue and working on a fix, Toyota puts out a TSB for the howling noises that come from the front of the truck? They didn't even figure it out, it was a TW member who did, so for me so far Toyota gets shitty marks for customer service. The truck is great, it's just the way Toyota as a company has handled it that will most likely to make me a repeat buyer int he future.

I actually took my truck and mountain bike out to ride 25 miles in the Dismal Swamp, not bad for a 52 year old man.

I can't remember calling you or anyone names here on TW, pretty sure a search of all my posts would confirm that but you now calling me a loudmouth... yet all you can do is read my posts, have no idea how my voice sounds.... your hostility is pretty evident.

Maybe you need to ignore my postings, my calm demeanor seems to push your buttons. You literally lost your shit when I asked if it was a possibility you didn't have your gear selector fully seated in drive when you said your truck seemed to kick into neutral. I said it happended to me before, possibly it happened to you too and you went nuts in your response.

Okay so after reading a few pages of I love the truck and no it sucks pissing contest I thought why not add to the morass and give my impressions of my first "big" trip from central NC to Pittsburgh, PA and back over the weekend. For reference my truck is a SR5 4x4 with the V6 and automatic transmission with most of my travel was in either mountains of Virginia, West Virginia, or very hilly country of Western Pa. Forget using cruise control in country such as I traveled since the transmission was constantly, to my displeasure, shifting back and forth from 5 and 6th gear. Though I must say when it shifted down to fifth gear going up a grade it had plenty of juice to pull the grade. I can see now that if your going to be pulling a trailer you can just also forget cruise control and figure your going to be slapping it over using the manual shift option. I was hoping with the hundreds a miles I traveled to see another 3rd generation, or hell any Tacoma, pulling a trailer but sadly that was not to be. My only other MAJOR beef is with the Entune/Bluetooth/Navigation system which goes beyond sucking. Two times I tried to use the "voice" command to call someone and each time my Bluetooth system locked up and said it didn't recognize my iPhone. Once I stopped the truck, turned it off and back on, the Bluetooth linked up again and worked but what a pain in the ass! As for the Navigation its so sorry I ended up using my Garmin Navigation as a primary and the crap Toyota navigation as back up. If I had know the Entune system was so sorry I would of ordered a truck without it and save me a bunch of $$$ and headaches. I'm disappointed enough over performance of the new automatic transmission that Toyota mated with the V6 and the Entune system to consider maybe I should take a ride again to my local Ford dealer for a look see?

    First of all....my comment was a joke. I don't own a '16....I own a '15.

Secondly....people who have not had issues with their '16s have as much right to state that as those who have had issues. What I've noticed is the people with problems are quick to label those who don't have problems as blind followers or Kool-Aid drinkers or fanboys....or whatever the term of the week is. It's almost has if they don't believe them....like those owners must be lying....somehow covering up the issues they're surely having. :notsure:

There are two types of 3rd gen owners.
The ones with issues that talk about it, and the ones who have issues that will deny the issues until the day they die.
    Lol
