Yeah that's what I had heard. Also heard removing it doesn't harm anything and helps throttle response. I haven't removed mine so I can't say for sure.

Someone said it does not have traditional exhaust manifolds? Can someone expand on that? I have not looked at 3rd Gen at all as I don't like the looks do I'm not interested

Yeah, I'm sure in time they will come out with a ton of stuff for your truck. There is too big of a market and money to be made. Power wise, unless they come out with a supercharger or a turbo and your ready to drop some coin that's the only way you'll get some significant increase.
My URD exhaust set up comes with a magnaflow muffler. It sounds awesome and not too ricey at all. Im not suggesting you look into a URD set up but maybe just a magnaflow muffler.

The exhaust manifolds are all part of the head. The engine pipe bolts directly to the head rather than to a manifold if that makes sense. I'll try and get pictures of mine later on this afternoon. I love my 16. Yes the grill does take a little getting used to however if you remove at least some of the chrome, it makes a huge difference. Here's what I did with mine which I personally love so far.

The 4.0 and the 3.5 sound very different. 4.0 has a much better sound IMO Believe it or not, the MF seems to actually be quieter than the stock 2016 muffler.

BAMF makes a pretty cool looking grill insert for the '16

They do, just not into a $400 grill honestly.

Lol...it costs a lot of money to look good. But if your gonna keep your truck for a long time and you take care of your stuff, I don't mind spending the cash...once I save it. That's how I talk myself into it.

I put 1/3 down on my truck in cash. Time to recoop a little, then the games begin.
