dealer is going to give me 10k for my 2wd AC long bed 07 prerunner tacoma with 136k miles. said if i can get 11k or more with private sale do it but less than that the difference in savings with sales tax i would come out on top with trading it in. So i will only pay sales tax on 27,700 vs handing them 10k cash selling out right and getting taxed on 37,700

 

Sorry if the quote format of my reply is off. Have not posted much. Truck is still being located. Just did a deal on basically the same truck(color and all) minus the convenience package, dark wheels(will install 2006 Taco XSP Enkei WT4 wheels immediately), tip.

Got lifetime oil changes, lifetime powertrain warranty, tinted windows, pinstriping(do not think I will have them even put it on), all weather mats, phone and cable package, clear paint protection($200....no idea what this is.... most likely BS)

Got 14,500 trade for my 2011 Reg cab Taco(kbb is 12,300), 0% financing.

Pretty similar deal as you. I think we did well. I'm happy with it. Got a baby on the way. The reg cab won't cut it anymore.

 

Nice, they are really a value. I think you are going to miss the keyless entry and cruise control though.

 

Yup, I think the SR is a great value. I don't need the bells and whistles of the SR5 for the $2100 more it will cost. I've been dealing with a base no power anything including intermittent wipers with my last two tacos so this will feel like a Cadillac. As for the convenience package, not gonna miss it, I will definitely have both. Just gonna have to pay for it after. OEM cruise is a $50 15 min. add on. I have added it on the last two tacos I have had. As for the keyless, I live in South Carolina so I def want the remote start so I dont have to get in a boiling hot truck during the summer. As I understand it, remote start is not an option with the factory keyless so I will have to add it later anyway. If anyone has any good info on the best route to take regarding remote start please pass along that info...

Invoice is near $36,000. Went in looking for this build sans paint protection package, but they've got nothing on the lot. They found this build on another lot in the company and will transfer it in. Initial offer from them was just under $40,000. I laughed and walked away and then they were willing to get down to $36,000. After further arguing and bickering, they went down to $34,000 even. I then got it down to $34,000 OTD (accounting for roughly $1,600 in TTL). This strikes me as a really good deal or am I wrong? Looking at about $32,500 for the Taco.

Is this a good deal or should I keep trying to negotiate it down further? Going back tomorrow morning.

 

After about 2 months of waiting and tons of lurking on this forum, I just picked up my DCSB TRD Sport 4x4 6MT at what I feel is a great deal for my area! I spent a solid month aggressively searching for this specific truck. I wanted silver, manual and a 4x4 sport or off-road. Fortunately, Virginia is within the MidAtlantic Dealer group and not the Southeast Toyota cartel. Toyota accepted the build in mid May. Build date was 6/8 and it arrived to my dealer on 6/22.

Here's the breakdown of invoice according to the sticky vs. msrp vs. what I paid:

• Invoice (model 7543, FE, HH, TO): $32,725
• MSRP (model 7543, FE, HH, TO, DPH of $900 and doc fee of $495): $36,865
• Price I paid: $33,882 + 4.1% tax/Title/Tags + Doc fee = $35,852 out the door

I did have a trade in (2010 4Runner Limited) for which they offered $24,500; which I thought was fair for a dealer trade-in.

Texas tax on vehicles is 6.25. You do not pay the city add on for a vehicle

 

Traded in 07 prerunner sr5 with 135k miles got 10,000 for trade in.

Dealer invoice pricing 35101 + ttl was - 10k trade in came to 26832 otd Houston, TX

 

Does anyone have a link to a thread or sticky that does a good job of explaining the ins and outs of financing? I would like to have a better understanding of exactly how it works, specifically the cost of 1% point over the life of a loan. I have not been able to find a thread that fully explains this in-depth.

That is a heck of a deal. The lowest that I got mine down to was $34850 OTD and I just have the tow package.

 

Keep dickering until they come to their senses and jack the price back up where it should be.

 

In a round about way, I paid $37,700 for my 2016 Tacoma SR5 access cab, i4 auto with no extras other than rubber floor mats. Since August 2015, I've had 4 Tacomas. Started with a 2007 base Tacoma with crank Windows. Best truck I've ever owned. Thought I would get a good deal on an end of year 2015.

So, In August, I traded my 2007 in on a 2015 access cab i4 4 speed auto. The price on the 2015 was about $24,000, and they gave me $12,000 for my 2007 Tacoma. The 2015 was a danger on the highway. Had a few near misses just because it just had no power on the highway. I thought right away, I needed a V6 Tacoma.

I called my dealer and asked to be notified when he had a 2016 Tacoma V6. 3 October, I got a call. The dealer had two Tacomas in stock. One was a V6. By the time I got there the V6 was sold. The other one was an SR access cab i4 auto with the appearance package. Dealer convinced me to at least take a test drive. With the 6 speed and the eco button, It seemed to have more power than my 2015. The deal required my 2015 and $7,500 cash. I did the deal.

The 2016 SR seemed to meet my needs, but about the second time I climbed in to it, my leg slipped on the door level running boards and I hurt my knee. Knee injury required surgery and months of physical therapy. I'm still limping to this day.

I took off the running boards and sold them cheap. Then I had trouble just getting in the truck. The 2016 SR had a very dim instrument cluster that bothered me especially with the red indicator needles. I have an eye problem that requires me to have as much light as possible to see especially the instrument cluster. So in February, I went back to my dealer to see what was on the lot.

They had just received a 2016 Tacoma SR5 access cab, i4 auto. Asked about the price. After dealing best price, they would give me $22,000 for my SR, and I would need $6,200 cash. I did the deal.

Here is the cost breakdown:

2007 Tacoma +$12K= $24K for the 2015 Tacoma
2015 Tacoma + $7.5K. For the 2016 SR Tacoma
2016 SR Tacoma +$6.2K for the 2016 SR5 Tacoma.

My actual cost was $37,700. Could have got a nice 2016 Tacoma sport for that kind of money.
The price for satisfaction is steep especially in my case.

Did the SR5 have a different cluster than the SR that made seeing the cluster easier?
