I'm a fan of the trucks, just don't know what these beds will look like in 10-20 years of Texas sun.

~10year old thread, but why can I not find more of us saying this? This is by far my biggest, perhaps only gripe. Not great for the interstate.

I love my 2nd gen, but my gripes would be,

    Non-heated mirrors
No outside temp gauge in my 2015 (my 2012 had it)
    Tailgate is pretty flimsy
Trailer plug is in a dumb spot
Seats aren't the comfiest I've sat in, and they are low in the cab
    2WD-4WD switch isn't illuminated
All breathers are up high except rear diff, why?
4runner has Auto Up/Down for all windows, Taco only has auto down for drivers window

Most of these gripes are easily remedied, but could very easily be factory options. I know with the 3rd gen some of these have been addressed. Would I trade my 2nd gen in for a 3rd? Not a chance..

How about a heated steering wheel?? My Hyundai has it.. its amazing

There’s a small plate on the bed of the truck in front the rear wheel and if you got a protection film package on the truck, after a few years it cracks up and holds dust and dirt. Looks like shit and not too much you can do about it besides putting new film on it

The 2nd gen is too thirsty. If I could get my hands on the engineer who took away my beer can holder on the tailgate...
Damn truck takes half of every beer I try to sit on the gate. Bed rail beer holder mod coming soon from me. Sick of this crap.

Wish they had a v8 option. More power under the hood would be nice.

my gripe in my 14 DC is the garbage entune weather app. i got a bobs automotive mirror autodim/temp/compass, and absolutly LOVE it compared to the app in the HD radio... complete garbage. since then i'll upgraded the factory radio, and completely happy with the louder tunes. also got me a JL stealthbox... spoiled myself a little bit.

biggest gripe. toyota cheaping out on my year with the compass/temp mirror. i had to upgrade that on my dime.

I know. How hard would it be to offer a v8 option. I would've bought that in a heartbeat with a supercharger option

the old 1UZ v8 didnt make much more in the way of power or torque. than the single vvti 4.0L found in our 2nd gens.

That stated. I REALLY wish toyota put the dual vvti 1gr 4.0L in the tacoma at the same time they did the 4 runner... that would of been a sexy combo.

had it for a few months now, here's my list:

-stupid tiny cupholder in that big open console
-no grab handles above doors (stupid curtain airbags)
-'09+ headrests that ruin your posture

That's about it though! not much to complain about, its a damn good truck.
