Jett loves the screen room. It's like being outside without having to actually be outside. And there's a couch. Comfort is key, and this dog has it figured out.

Riley celebrated his 7th trip around the sun today with a burger and fries for dinner. Sorry, no pics cause Labrador vacuum mode (the burger took exactly one mouthful). Took him for a nice long walk today. He got a new football and some extra treats.

I'm really blessed to have such a great dog. Happy Birthday Poopers!

Leo is a handful. Slap full of energy from morning too night. I had to leash him just so he would sit still long enough for a picture lol

Thanks! She's a Chow Border Collie mix, 100% awesome. She was picked up as a ferrell stray on a native reserve. Never has a wild dog acclimated to domestic life so well ( I have no way to quantify that statement, but it seems accurate).

So, you Vizsla people... Looking at the wire-haired version of the Vizsla mostly because they are, in my reading, hypoallergenic. My wife is allergic and said after these 2 that we currently have that she would rather we didn't have any more dogs in the house. Well, I like my dogs and feel safer with a couple in the house while I'm gone. At least to notify her so she can respond as needed.

I've seen a few whilst backpacking through the years but haven't been able to spend any amount of time around the breed. Just looking for some insight on the breed. Obviously, I can get some info from Wiki or other sites but would like some 1st hand knowledge. Stubborn, friendly, timid, excitable, etc? Thanks in advance. Doesn't appear to be much difference between the smooth coat and wire-haired coated versions. I could be wrong though.

In laws have a 11 year old Vizsla, used to be my wife's until she moved and yard wasn't big enough.
Smartest dog I've ever seen. Good with kids. (Wife's sisters have 3 kids from 7-3 years old.) I have a 10 year old (who has been in the dogs life since birth) and I have a 6 month old. I've only known Lenka for the past 5 years but the only negative thing my wife ever said when she had her was that since they are retriever dogs she would occasional get excited when seeing birds.

I'd look into one as my next dog to partner with my Bloodhound, however, I think I'm going to want something a bit larger.

    Just my $.02.

Thanks for the info. This dog will be a mtb and backpacking dog. My lab/cur mix is about 55-70 lbs depending on the season so a Viszla would be slightly smaller for me. I wouldn't trade him for the world but the next one or additional one will hopefully be smaller. Wife has (we have) a Jack Russell/Brittany mix that goes about 20 lbs and she is a good pup.

I love wirey's, but are pretty rare. I have seen one locally and know a person on east coast who had his shipped from Hungary and had to deal with a mountain of paperwork, quarantine, etc.
From what I was told by these 2 owners, they are calmer. As far as hypo-allergenic, no dog is. They still shed hair, dander and have saliva.

I've met a ton of them, and they come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and temperaments. What they definitely are not, is a guard dog. Most of the ones I've met a "soft" dogs. Mine must be the calmest Vizsla I have ever seen. He is stone cold poker face dog most of the time. At home he just loves to chill, half the time being left alone. His crate is in the bedroom, kinda hidden in the corner behind the door and I removed the door from it. So he just goes there when he wants to be left alone. Other times he is attached to me, wherever I go. He is a bit timid, but I think its our doing. He has been babied all his life and sleeps in bed with us under the blanket.

But outside he is a typical Vizsla
