So I did an oil change today then decided to go play around offroad. My truck ran great until I pulled onto the street which I live. I dont have an engine light but it's running at maybe half power. Took it down to Pep Boys and they said it's throwing a 0416 code when they hook it up to the computer. Ran the code through the Google machine and it came up as "Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve 'B' Circuit Open".

Any idea how to fix this??? I don't even know what it means.

Take it to the dealer and be very firm , but polite. This is getting to be more prevalent on the Tacoma's and Tundra's.

This is the system that injects air into the exhaust to aid in heating up the O2 Sensors rapidly. Main items consist of a pump and a valve for each bank of the exhaust. Yours is detecting that Valve B circuit is open. It could be a wiring issue or it could be a defective valve.

Warranty (for your 15' I'm assuming)

Take it in to have the valves and pump replaced

LOL... Don't get my hopes up, Tacotruck422! I don't think they're going to warranty anything on my truck after the stuff I've done to it. Just dropped it off at the dealership... anxious to see what they say.

Not a whole lot you can do that would effect the pump and valves. Intake is under the hood where it can suck up dirt and moisture. Except maybe pop the little cap off the intake(for pump) and leave it that way.

Well, as luck would have it today, the mechanics at Toyota said they reset the code and the problem cleared. They didn't charge me a thing AND I got a FREE car wash out of the deal!

All in all, a pretty good day!
