Shit happens I suppose! I actually made it probably 80% of the way home but my buddy had already left out with the trailer and like I said, I was getting some pretty bad vibrations anyways. My alignment is SUUUUPER wonky too. And she apparently wasn't very happy with me because at one point it was almost like the t-case tried to engage itself going down the road even though I've got a manual t-case. I had to pull over bc something in the drivetrain was carrying on making an awful racket. I thought it was my ring and pinion but I fiddled with the t-case and it stopped grinding and I went on my way limping her home. Even had some guy approach me while I was stopped fiddling with it asking me how much I'd take for it haha. Shoulda sold the damn thing while I had the chance!! Lol

 

^^ but that is one nice looking 1st gen. keep "fixing" it up since it sounds like the owner before you didnt know what they were doing.

 

Grassy ass! She's definitely a long-term work in progress. The current owner doesn't know what the hell they're doing either. I think he's probably just wingin' it. Lol

 

Btw @Dave41079 I fixed my brakes while I was under there messing with the driveshaft and springs haha. They were just out of adjustment.

 

Yeah it sounded like that's all it was. Sucks about the u-joint. How were you able to get the retaining clips on if the cap wasn't seated all the way though? That's weird. I remember it looked funny like the cap was too far in when we put the last two on. I think I mentioned something about it, but figured if the clips could go on it should be fine. Guess not. You'll be happier with that Spicer joint anyways. Hopefully everything gets sorted out and you don't have anymore problems.

 

It felt like it seated but it was between the cap and the rubber piece that holds the bearings in, kinda giving a "false positive" lock. I do remember you mentioning it, and I thought it looked funny as well, but when it felt like the clip seated I didn't even really think about it until we got it off the trailer and were looking at it a little closer. Definitely was glad he had a spicer joint laying around!

 

I chopped up the video tonight. I decided to go ahead and cut yours as a separate file. It is uploading now. I want to work the others a little bit more before I upload them.

@TRD Auddie glad you made it home semi dry and got it all fixed. So you're telling me that it was @Skootter14 's fault with the needle bearings?

But yeah the rain was pretty crazy, but it got me real nice and clean. Cleanest the tires have been in a good while haha

Also, a guy I know that has a Disco showed up down there. Josh, Jeremy, and I ran into him as he was getting to the park and talked to him for a bit. Luckily he trailered it there, because he blew his rear axle. He said the pinion basically exploded, but he had a good time until then.
