HELP please!!! Tire shine stains on paint.

Hello, first time posting, although I've been following the thread for months as I was researching my recent purchase. I have a Super White 2016 TRD OR DCSB 4x4. I've had it for a little over a month, this weekend I had it washed, when I got home I decided to do a little extra detailing myself. I cleaned up the wheels and all the little corners and spots the car wash normally doesn't get. I finished by putting some Armour All extreme tire shine dressing on the tires. An hour or two later we went out on an errand, when I got out of the cR I noticed black spots had sprayed all over the side of the truck. I immediately realized it came from the tires and thought the tire dressing just hadn't set in yet. I grabbed some paper towels and a bottle of water and cleaned up as much as possible. The problem is there are light brown stains left behind in different places all of the doors and near the wheel wells. Most of it came off but the light spots stayed. They will not wipe or wash off at all. Has anyone had any experience with this?'b I did some googling and found some similar posts. Some people have said it's something in the tire dressing mixing with an anti mold agent in the tires and staining the paint. Recommendations have been, dish soap, winded, rubbing alcohol, buffing, gasoline, etc. I've tried all suggestions in very small spots near the rear of the truck and nothing will work. Some people have simply posted that I'm screwed. I hope this is not the case. My only hope is that all of the similar posts date back to 2006 at the latest, so in hoping maybe a solution has been made in the last ten years. Or maybe the dressing got into the wax from the car wash before it completely dried and that's why I can't seem to get it out? Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!

 

Try a paste or liquid wax. Not the spray on kind. Worked for me in the past

 

I assume the spots are tiny/little. Get a Mr. Clean magic eraser and try that in certain spots. 90% sure that'll work to take them off. Apply wax/protection to areas after

 

DO NOT USE A MR CLEAN MAGIC ERASER!!! If all else fails use that as your last resort.

Try getting a clay bar kit and if that dosent work a clean rag with a tiny bit of goof off might work.

 

Sounds like it's just that grease from the tire pookey that's on your paint. It should come off. You could try washing the vehicle very well and clay bar the area.

 

I use various tire dressings all the time, whether it be at the car wash or at home. Either way I make sure the tire surface isn't left dripping wet with the product. I always make sure the residue is wiped off. I see car wash places all the time just spray this stuff on leaving it dripping wet, hence the side of the vehicle getting sprayed down too as you drive off. Just like anything else, mud water or whatever you might drive through etc. some of the products I use I spray on a rag first, then wipe the sidewalls down. You get the shine without all the dripping residue etc.

 

Goof Off. Takes off plasti dip over spray very well, I'd imagine it works for tire dressing.

 

Yea, do not use a magic eraser. That will scratch the hell out of the paint. Try a solvent to get the oil off it won't hurt the paint, then go over with a wax

 

I have never scratched my paint with a. Magic Eraser. I don't use it over a huge surface area and only for small spots, any fingernails under door handle, stuff like that.

I have never seen scratches like that from a Magic Eraser. Looks like a Brillo Pad!

I second the wiping down of any tire shine or anything like that to prevent it coming off.

Correct, I now understand that. I think it must be pressed very hard to provide deep scratches like the ones in the picture. It doesn't require a lot of pressure to take the stains/dirt/scratches off. I don't use the whole sponge, just the very edge and press lightly. I usually do this before I wax the car so I reapply the necessary paint coverage that may have been taken off.

I've used this on many of my vehicles over the past 4 years or so. Works great. Just make sure you get a nice applicator pad. Clean the area well before using and again after your done. Also, don't go putting a lot of elbow grease into it when your applying it. Use small amounts and repeat until blemish is gone.

Thanks so much for replying. Sorry for the absence of photos. I will try and take a few after work today. So far I have tried the magic eraser in a small section towards the rear of the truck. That didn't work. I've tried windex and rubbing alcohol, even went over it with the scratch dr while I was taking care of a few light scratches from a trail drive. That didn't work. I'm going to pick up that rubbing compound tonight and give it a shot, after that maybe a clay bar.
