I suspect you are SOL - even if you were to prevail in small claims court, collecting is another matter. Chock is up as an expensive learning experience and move on - life is too short.

Why does this seem to be a recurring theme here?

I feel like there's at least 3 threads every week where a TW member gets shafted and we have to explain what to do...

I am planning on talking to him and giving him one more chance to make it right. Last time I saw him he treated me like I don't know anything and I shouldn't be looking at those areas. It's a frustrating process but it is what it is. I didn't claim it with Insurance because he was recommended and I saw the work he did on my friends mkiv supra and some other cars. The work he did was really good so I expect the same. He treated my work like let's do it quick and he won't notice because when I told him he made up some weak excuses.

The paint is bridged on the antenna,it will cause issues down the road. That's just pure laziness right there.

This looks like a Maaco quality job. The right way would have been to address the key mark, color match that portion only, and then clear coat the entire fender. Removing an antenna or other items is not too hard either - they were just really sloppy.

OP: You have a few options:
    1. Try and get this shop to fix their issues. Concern is they don't appear to be able to do a good job and the repeat will likely be poor quality as well.
    2. Call your CC and dispute the charge with the shop. If you can provide adequate proof to the CC that the shop did not meet their end they will get your $$ back.
    3. Small claims court. This is a slam dunk case and you will easily win. Will cost you a few hundred dollars to file and do the paperwork. You don't need an attorney, and you can add the filing fees into the suit $$. It is likely they will settle before this even goes to court, but otherwise you will get your $$ back.

Next time go thru insurance - then you have the insurance company on your side to make sure you get good results. It's worth the deductible and rate hike compared to poor resale value.

FWIW - I have gone thru similar issues with Jay Honda in Cleveland (late 90's) on piss poor paint work and ultimately got them removed form the insurance company's list as well as getting the issues resolved elsewhere at no cost to me. I have also successfully sued another Honda dealer for poor work on my S2000. Hence why I now have a Toyota and not a new Honda.

There not the best pictures my camera has a hard time focusing because of the white colour. This was before the paint job with the key scratches on it. One picture I touched it up because it was deep in some areas and it has been raining a lot were I live. I apologize if my pictures aren't the greatest the paint on the truck looks good but he cut corners. There was a small rock chip on the bottom of the fender under the headlight that is still there so he did not paint there. The deal was the everything comes off the the whole fender gets repainted. You can see where the rock chip is under there is a paint line we he masked it off and didn't paint it's hard to see in pictures but in person you can see it. Exactly it's laziness. He told me he took it off when I asked him then he saw it and didn't know what do say. He said the reason he masked and left a paint line cuz the truck had dirt so he masked it there and didn't do the whole fender. I washed the truck before I took it and it's not hard to clean up.

I agree 100%. I am trying to be nice and give him a chance. He does not seem willing to fix it and do it right last time I talked to him. He's not in the office today so I'll have to wait. I already talked to my bank if he wants to go this route. Mistakes were made on my part and I should have just gone through insurance. I feel good about my chances because I have the invoice with all the work listed on it.

The guy has a business so if you win/ in court you can collect and add the costs to what you collect. Your credit card people may be able to tell you where he banks. I've never had anything go this far so I don't know the details.

I haven't had this problem ever till now. I'm trying to be nice and give him a chance but so far that's not working out. Well see how it goes.

I live in Alberta Canada haha I wish I lived in NY I would have taken it to you. I took it to another body shop they told me I should ask for my money back. he did more damage than fixing the keyed scratches would have cost. They said that the paint job is going to give me problems because looks like a quick spray. I will be trying to get my money back now. At this point I don't trust his word or his work. He doesn't seem willing to make it right so well see how things go.

I had a new OEM fender installed and painted for about $1800. $1500 for this is way told much.

Wow, this thread still active.. I wouldn't make such a small insurance claim, good on you for avoiding insurance. Next time be more careful and refuse to pay for crap workmanship. If you paid by cc contact them and insist they help you, you've been robbed by one of their clients. (They make money on all transactions, thus they're obliged to help ensure satitisfation) If you sue, sue them as well. They benefitted. Personally I wouldn't trust my vehicle in that body shops hands, no matter what!! even if they offer you a comlete new paint job and a BJ, refuse.. Take it somehwhere else, reputable and have it repaired correctly then sue the original shop for that invoice. There's no other solution. Small claims court will treat you well, it's a cheap process ($40) where I live, quick and painless.

Stop sucking up to the guy who screwed you. Don't ask the cc card company to stop payment, demand it, you've been robbed. Don't be a wus, Get in there and fight, you're getting shafted!! Stop asking and start yelling.. (you've got nothing to loose)

    Just saying, good luck..
