I've been waiting for a little over a month now so the dealership can replace mine, of course they'll give u the run around
First it was supposed to be two weeks after I got the truck inspected. Then it became another two weeks, and now they're back ordered :annoyed:

They are backordered simply because of the demand right now to replace....after all these years, you would think Toyota could get a proper leaf spring on these trucks...:benchpress:

Oh. My bad. Didn't realize location. Although you'd think it would be.

mine just busted at the curl (mounting spring) passenger side. 2 broken middle springs a couple of years ago(one on each side replaced by my mechanic) and now this. called the dealer, they took my word on the break and have ordered a set. just have to wait 2-3 weeks for everything to come in. they asked that i send in the receipts for the other 2 repairs for reimbursement. so far so good. only thing they can't answer is if i'm getting a 3 or 4 leaf pac replacement

Not mine; just started doing it for the first time yesterday. Was able to stop by my local dealership and I'm scheduled for Monday. All parts are in stock and they said I can pick up the truck Tuesday afternoon.

For those of getting the run around, call Toyota Corporate and let them know your experience with your dealer. Mine here in the Austin area was on top of their game and as soon as they heard my springs squeaking they immediately said they need to be replaced per the safety recall......

Got my last latter . I had my spring replaced by a third party shop as The dealer could not replaces them with new one. sent papper work showing the work had been done and was sent a later saying that you need a detailed work order why and what was done to fix the problem . I was turned down even though i did as was stated in the last later. I will not buy any more Toyota's and go to Ford. This is a bad way for TOYOTA to treat there customers . I have own a Toyota since 1965. I will let every one I know not buy Toyota.

Toyota of Denton clearly doesn't know what they are doing. Guess I'm trying a different dealer next

I just went in for my inspection after receiving my letter and they said, 'You're good. No action needed'. Since I did just get this truck at the beginning of the year I'm wondering if the previous owner switched the leaf packs already :notsure: Guess I got a free car wash out of it.

some of this, a little of that
Went in and to my surprise mine qualified for replacement, so now we wait a couple of weeks for parts. This will be the second set of leafs Toyota has done now since I bought it in November of '07 :D

Just called my local dealer and they're making me come in for an 'inspection' before ordering part, then they said it'd be 2-3 weeks for the parts to come in. I wish they'd just order the parts already but whatever.

Had mine done 3 weeks ago. Live in Birmingham AL. Took about 1.5 hours for the inspection and replacement (done in one visit). Truck sits just a tad higher after, seems to ride a bit firmer in the back as well, but no major changes. Certainly none of the 1"+ drop I have heard a few post about...

Good luck with ford. You really think theyd replace 11 year old parts free of charge like toyota is? All because of a possibility of breaking? I've been with toyota for 10yrs, most of these recalls I'm doing arnt even for "common" problems. MILLIONS of vehicles, couple hundred have an issue so they go ahead and replace ALL. Some are enforced, many are customer satisfaction!

I agree. My son bought a Taurus SHO several years ago. Within 5 years the shifter linkage came apart. Tried to get part from Ford. No go. Out of production. On an expensive Taurus that was less than 5 years old. Had to go to antique ford parts to get the linkage. Apparently it was an antique after 5 years. Shortly thereafter the transmission (manual 5 speed) failed. Repeat trip to Ford. Same answer, "no longer available." Finally located one at a wrecking yard and had it shipped to me. He traded that in on a T-bird with the 4.6... 4 speed auto. lost gears 3-4 within a year of warranty going out. Won't be any more Fords in my driveway.

So far I have receive 2 letters on this recall. The first was before a solution was determined. The 2nd notifying me a solution had been determined but stated I would receive another (3rd letter) when the parts were available. Do you have to have the 3rd letter telling you the parts are in or can I just call the dealership and ask?

I would call. Alabama was the last region I think and I got my letter several weeks ago and have already had the new springs installed.

received the recall notice a few weeks ago and had my 2007 looked at today - dealer said it would be 3-4 weeks to get the springs and will schedule with me then. I am thinking about getting them to replace the shocks (127k mi on original shocks), while they have this apart - really no labor, just shock costs. I rarely tow a trailer, and do not haul much heavy stuff in the bed and off roading is usually limited to a gravel road to reach the ranch - what is a good shock option?
