You are welcome to you 2 cents of course and I think you were smart to leave the other half of the Elk for the Loin.

In the 32 years I have been hunting in Colorado, Alaska and Africa and in the hunting business my whole life I have seen a lot. I to have had a cat stalk me right on top of my snow shoe prints. He was probably just curious about me intruding in his area. By the way I never seen him only noticed when I was back tracking to the truck. I have also had one follow me at my 3 o'clock about 100yds for a half mile. Cats only attack Human adults if they are a threat not for food and you will see them coming 99% of the time. Even a 220lb Tom is not going to kill you on impact unless you are in a movie. Cats kill by knocking down their prey and then cutting of airflow to the lungs by biting down on their preys windpipe. If you ever see a fresh cat kill there will very little blood till they start to eat. Bears are totally different they are very easy to scare off. Only time this becomes a problem is when there curiosity about food and you are a threat to this food or the cubs. Even in Colorado with Black bears this cause 99% of attacks. Grizzly are different since they are so territorial. If you are shitting yourself scared in the woods I would have to ask why you were there and how did you not prepare of this out come. By the way Bear spray is a deterrent not an end game.

Very true about cat kills, but trying to squeeze of a few shots while your neck is being bitten is going to be tough. Im not trying to argue, but you've clearly never been charged by a full grown grizzly bear. Regardless of how prepared or seasoned in the wilderness you are.... your going to need brown pants.

I think we are both on the same page about wildlife encounters, they always have a bad outcome from one side or the other. Its best to make noise and avoid close encounters, but knowing what to do in such an encounter is important. I am not a proponent of hiking with a gun (the only time I do is when I'm hunting), but i don't discourage it if it makes you more comfortable, just be safe and know when and how to use it.

So I just looked at the paper website and apparently we're under a tornado watch effective about an hour ago until 8 pm. I'm looking outside and it's all but perfectly calm, blue skies all the way around that I can see from the house. o_O

I got a notice on the cell about an hour ago saying the same thing. I agree, It's pretty calm out right now. I wonder what's heading our way.

Sorry man, just google Vancouver Island Cougar attacks and you will see they always attack from behind and go for base of the neck. One survivor I recall actual had their backpack high up and the pack took the fatal blow. There have been rashes of attacks out there over last decade, I was hiking there a week after one of the attacks and the warnings where constantly look behind and some where (Ranger wise) promoting helmets to protect if attacked. Being ex military we had an Assigned 6- tailgunner this trip.

The woman was working outside her cabin Sunday afternoon when she was attacked from behind by the cougar, said Troy Haddock, maritime coordinator with the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria.
The woman’s skull was crushed and half her scalp was missing following the attack, he said. She also suffered several puncture wounds before her common-law partner — who heard her screams and quickly came to her aid — stabbed the cat repeatedly with a spear and chased it off.

    Now there's a man, a Frick'n spear!

Expedition Overland is live on FB... never watched this FB live thing before. But I found it funny that they are complaining about the 2016 searching for gears, wasting gas on the highway. :)

4runner pulling the trailer was having to stop a lot less than the Tacoma. They are somewhere getting it re-geared. Going from 3.90s to 4.88s.

A small handful of select mods.
They are at Nitro Gear Company. Nitro gears have been touted for years to be the best aftermarket gears for Toyota. However recently certain people on here that build diffs have noticed an inconsistency in their gear set quality. Hopefully it is just a small batch and they have not reduced quality for profits.

Dunno, it popped up on my FB alerts. They were taking some live questions about lockers and such but are wrapping up now.
