Question for TRD exhaust owners.

I'm considering this mod. There has been lots of discussion here about various exhaust solutions, but I'm finding it hard to get a fix on my particular question, so I thought I'd ask it straight out: I want the nice finished look the TRD exhaust gives you. I want a more impressive sounding idle. I'd like to hear the truck at WOT. But, being very honest here, I actually don't want to hear any difference when I'm cruising. I still want it quiet on the highway.

Is the TRD catback the solution? Or do I have to stay stock?

I got the TRD exhaust installed a couple days ago. Don't really hear it at idle. I mean you can tell a difference but it's not loud. At cruising it's pretty quiet too. No drone. Sounds great accelerating especially between 2500-4500 rpm. Definitely the solution if you don't want something obnoxiously loud. I wish it were a little louder but overall I'm quite pleased.

 

same as above. had mine from dealer.
has a decent idle, if you have a cai also it is even louder on acceleration. and cruising isnt a loud drone, just nice and subtle... then punch the gas in and it will roar at you.

and its also stainless steel. looks amazing

Sounds great at idle and hard acceleration, I find it kind of annoying cruising in the 1100 to 1800 RPM range, not so much that I have pulled it off though. I’m thinking about adding a resonator in front of the muffler.

 

Like most aftermarket exhausts, sounds good but don't think your going to get added HP. I'm debating TRD as well as or other option would be to keep stock and add a nice 3" tip MBRP

 

Not looking for more power, and I imagine the TRD exhaust would be pretty mild in this regard anyway.

In theory, a less restrictive exhaust always produces more horsepower. The problem is that it will add this power at high rpms where the engine is pumping more air through itself, and it usually does this at the expense of low end torque. That tradeoff wouldn't suit the way I drive this truck at all.
