none, dont want to void the warranty
So my 09 Tacoma wont let me lock the doors while the truck is running. I know toyota had good intentions to prevent people from locking their keys in the truck but I want to keep my truck warm in the winter without someone opening the door and stealing it. So how do I lock the doors while its running.

Yea try the key that would be my only guess. I don't think there's a modern car in existence that lets you lock the doors with the key in the ignition.

DON'T lock the door with the spare key! It won't let you unlock it while the truck is running. Already tried. Thankfully I left the rear window open just incase.

I have done this every cold morning for the last two years with no problem! You use the spare key to unlock too.

    08pretaco,

very "wise" statement...easier to reach through open window than call locksmith;).....
I lock mine BUT the spare is the single KEY in the ignition and the master is with ME....

Actually, I just traded a Chev Avalanche on my 08 Taco and locked it using the key fob remote all the time with it running. Can't believe the Toy won't allow it. Somebody here must have a clever work around mod that would allow you to take the remote entry with you and lock the truck with the key in the ignition.....anyone??????

Why don't you just turn your truck on. open drivers door, hit the lock all doors button on the driver's side and then get out and close the door? The door will be locked so you'll need your spare key to open and get back in.

    Or..

Turn truck on, get out, lock with spare key and then unlock with spare key.. same beezwax

The Tacoma will automatically unlock the doors again right after you lock them if the key is in the ignition.
