thinking about taking a spontaneous trip to get out of town for a few days. Things are bothering me. Anyways, anyone have any ideas on how to camp in the back of the truck without a camper or a tent? Not looking to spend much money besides gas.

Also, it has been exactly 5189 miles since my last oil change. Oil on the dip stick still looks like a dark honey color and not black; shouldn't be a problem with another 1000-1500 hundred miles right? Shouldn't wear down anything... Any opinions?

Change oil/filter before you go if you use conventional oil.

Yep...plan your spontaneous trip very carefully.

    Just joking.

I would change the oil and filter, check tires, fill it up with gas, and go.

If you're not worried about security then all you'd really need is some food/water, a bed mat of some kind and a sleeping bag/pillow.

I always take a rifle on trips, never know when I might need it and don't put all your assets in one place.

Honestly, your oil should be fine. I would not change oil right before a trip , you want to change it a 1-2 weeks before a long trip so you can check oil levels, leaks, etc.

Other than that, get a camping bed mat for the truck bed, or sleep in the passenger seat reclined or backseat. Highly recommend a firearm if you plan on camping in the truck. Up better safe than sorry.
