I walked out of one concert, and my greatest disappointment of music.

    Brad Paisley, 2 years ago.

I have loved him for a decade, and I stayed about 40 minutes before throwing in the towel. He sounds like shit live.

I'm hoping it was just audio issues or he was sick, but nothing was said or was notable during the concert. I won't risk the ticket prices again to see if it was a fluke, it was like listening to a guy at a bar.

These days, I think this is as close to the traditional mark as it's gonna get. I do like the fact he's got a modern Hank Sr., nasal thing in his voice and the music is recognizable as country or C&W. I prefer steel pedal guitars in my country, so I'm way outdated. I don't believe in Taylor Swift or Georgia/Florida Line, type "music"...

Back to newish Country. I am also a big fan of Jason Aldean. I think he puts a good spin on some of the old themes and adds some new flavored.

Loved Zac Brown also, but heard a song of theirs recently and it was complete trash.

Not sure if that's their new thing, but another band with great music in their library who also have some shitty, popular songs.

After the cheating scandal I haven't cared for him at all, wasn't a fan before that though.

    Too many party/drinking/drunk songs.

Toby Keith is another person I hate, as is Kenny Chesney.

Yeah..I'm more of a "musician" fan than an "artist" fan. There are countless "little guys" out there that are actually really really good. Like I mentioned above...I LOVE me some Jake Hooker & The Outsiders. He's got that old honky tonk sound, plays the stand up bass and is the lead singer. His band is razor sharp too. Fantastic steel and fiddle. On the flip side of that...I also really like bands like Corb Lund, Cory Morrow, Robert Earl Keen, Max Stalling, Justin Trevino, Amber Digby, etc. etc. as well as the outlaws and the legends.

I wonder if that isn't the change in country music.

From songs you could listen to, work to, slow dance to and make love to (Conway Twitty) to songs that you drink cheap Mexican beer to while wearing $200 jeans with bedazzled horse shoes on the pockets.

Can't really say the last time I was at a country concert and didn't only see white trash or pretend rednecks with even more fake country whores.

Not a pair of honest jeans or boots among them.

Sorry, was driving home from work. What I am going to discuss is strictly my opinion, and since I don't make a living in the music industry, means very little to anyone except me lol. First of all, if you listen to a song and it could fall into the category of rap or pop, and is not discernible as country music, then it is not a country. Country uses to be its own diststinct genre. You don't listen to a Garth, Hank, George (Jones or Strait) song and think it's anything besides country. Second, there was a time when country music had meaning and there was a reason behind the song being written. A good majority of what is considered country music now is about nothing more than drinking, picking up women, and partying. Now don't get me wrong one of the staples in country music has always veen writing songs that are in some way shape or form influenced by alcohol, but in today's country the only influence of alcohol is let's go get drunk and see how many girls we can get with, which is essentially the same thing that todays hip-hop songs are about. Third, and final, is that someone above mentioned catering to the listeners. The older country songwriters didn't write the songs they did to sell records. I mean in a way they did, because that's where the money is, but selling records and making money wasn't the only driving factor. There was a story to be told or a lesson to be learned. And don't get me wrong, I don't hate all new music. Even though I am not a fan of Luke or FGL, they still have some songs that I like and that stay true to their country roots. The problem is that isn't the majority of their music. The majority is going to sell the most records and make the most music. That's why I like guys like Chris Stapleton and Jamie Johnson who still have the sound and the story to tell.

I'm a metal fan, but I saw a story on CBS Sunday Morning about a country singer from, of all places, LA. His names Sam Outlaw. Picked up his album and have not been disappointed. Stand out song is Ghost Town. I recommend it.

We knew honest country had died when Jimmy Buffett started singing along side the biggest names in country music.

Look at Kenny Chesney! Dude lives on a boat and can't write a song about anything other than pirates, Mexico, or fruity drinks.

    Fuck.

No one seems to understand to whole point of innuendos. That's how great comedy and music is born, by actually sitting down and thinking about what you're implying in an intelligent manner. Not just being out with it...

The funniest and most ironic shit I've ever seen: Up until recently I was heavily into the UTV/ATV world as a hobby. Every time we'd go to one of the big events.....there'd be your regular "redneck" types...in their jacked up rigs, flying their confederate flags......blaring .....hardcore gangster rap. WTF?!?! I still cannot wrap my head around that whole thing. LOL...but whatever.
