Because '62 seems like such a long time ago?

Half the time when I tell people what year my '69 is they argue with me, lol. :der:

I think the big "80" in red circle was making me think 80 for some reason. Who knows. Its also pretty dumb to argue with the OWNER of a car as to what year it is...

    Yep.
"That's can't be a '69! I used to see those all the time back in the 70's and 80's!"

"Well, that would make sense, since that was AFTER they were made..."

Should work fine. I usually put wheel bearing grease on wheel bearings and regular Moly on everything else. :notsure:

I love Scouts. Some day I will buy one and fix it up. I want a Scout II with the 345 or 392. Hard to come by because rust destroyed the bodies on them. The only decent/workable ones I've found have had slant-4s in them or were nearly flawless and going for almost what my Tacoma is worth. Probably shouldn't worry about it for a few years anyway.

Everyone knows someone with an old Bronco or Blazer. There are fewer Scouts out there, so that makes them much more appealing to me. Plus, they're 100% truck. Totally unrefined with no creature comforts and stupidly heavy motors that make tons of torque but won't rev past 3600 RPM.

I'd rather have an IH pickup--I knew a guy in college who had a stepside model, jacked up with fat sneaks and a wicked exhaust. He had it painted flat red and somehow that just made it feel more badass

Defintely don't see them as often any more. Used to be a bunch of old Scouts in the local used car rag, but now you only see them pop up occasionally. Seemed like Scout II's with a 304 and a plow were a dime a dozen when I was in high school, though.

There's one down the road from my parents on some guy's land, sunk to the axles in the ground. It has a plow on it, been sitting for at least ten years that I'm aware of. With how those things rust, though, I know better than to ask about it. Even if he said "get it out of there and it's yours", it would be so much work it wouldn't be worth it. On top of the body rust, I wouldn't be surprised if everything mechanical has seized. Probably not much useful on the thing at this point. That and MA title law would likely make it impossible to register.

Probably wouldn't be bad for parts if you had one already, but probably not a great starting point for a restoration, lol.

Oh yeah, a few things about my old scout:
    - Top speed 72 mph downhill with a heavy tailwind.
    - Max mpg = 12. On the highway at about 55 mph; about 9 mpg around town.
    - It had vacuum powered windshield wipers, so it sucked bigtime going uphill in a snowstorm. Had to let off the gas to get a couple swipes out those week-ass blades.
    - It had 2 10 gal. (maybe) gas tanks with a fuel tank selector next to the seat and a switch on the dash to select sending units for the gauge.
    - It wasn't uncommon to blow the exhaust pipe off the manifold if you got too aggressive between gears.

I sill have nothing but fond memories of that thing...

Fun thing about my '69 is that it has speed-sensitive headlights and wipers. If you're cruising along at an idle the headlights are dim and the wipers are super slow. Then the headlights get brighter and the wipers go faster as your engine speed (and the alternator speed) increases, lol. The headlights still aren't much good, though.

Oh god, I hope the new Bronco doesn't look like that... It's got that terrible front end of the new Renegade. I hope the new one looks more like this:

I love this concept. If it has a decent power plant, I could be pursuaded into an SUV maybe...

I know, I know, but I needed a half ton.
Get the screws that thread in and go that route.. Does t take much to pop them off.. Put a little neverseze between there when you put the new rotor on. You will thank yourself the next time around.
