You're right about the shocks topping out, but you're missing out on a a major point in relation to overall travel of the leafs.

There's really not a good shock length that matches the extended and compressed lengths of the stock locations. This is especially true due to the two sides being different. You're only using 8.5" of shock travel, while your leaves are capable of more than that, but if you put longer shocks in the sock mount, you'll then start risking bottom them out too.

Why loose travel if you don't have to?

By the time you get a shock that's long enough extended for the stock mounts, it's too long on the compressed length. Same is true for the opposite. The closest thing to perfect for a lifted application using factory mounts might be 12" Bilstein 7100 short bodies. Whereas you get the extended length, whith a much shorter compressed length.

A proper relocation can alleviate much of these issues.

TLDR: hardly anyone that reads this thread would benefit from a shock relocation.

That doesn't exist because there's no one solution that works for every setup.

    I didn't miss any point you whippersnapper.:D
I mentioned the different amounts of leftover travel on driver vs passenger.
If it helps, it's because the driver side is cycled by the shackle and the passenger side is...not.
He was asking about mounting in stock location, I gave him the lengths to use and what to expect. I think he has the longer leaves anyway, so those measurements are going to be a bit off in all aspects. My shorter leaves not only droop less, they also compress less. Not ideal from a wheeling performance standpoint, but works pretty well for the shocks. :p

Fwiw I have foxes that are factory replacement lengths. That means one is 8" and the other is 8.5" King does the same thing. Mine are fully tune able and rebuild able and have resis.

Bit over kill for a mostly stock dd? Yea. I mean, I have extended travel kings up front too. But guess what? It rides awesome. Handles dirt roads like a champ. Cadillac on the street.

I don't take it the hairy gnarly places I take Frank. But I get plenty of dirt on Igor. So why not get a nice rebuild able ride for the dd.

This is what you want to do.
Its no contest, and it doesnt involve silly lights.

    1) Its an upgrade of the harness
    2) More powerful bulbs
    3) Replace the headlights if nasty old and yellow.

K really fast question! What do you consider a safe length for a travel trailer a 2000 prerunner 3.4l??? Weight wise I'm looking at keeping it around 3800max total weight if possible....

The bulb is independent of the vehicle for projector retrofits. If you get the D2 Mini or similar then then you get a bulb to fit that system. You can either order everything off of TheRetrofitSource.com or take your chances on eBay as others have done.

I'm doing everything off retrofitsource. I'm using the mini H1. Should I pretty much go with options the page gives me??

Then youd need and h1 hid kit? Youl also need aftermarket "h4 conversion" headlight housings. And some kind of dremel. Ive built me second set now and its really just a matter of trimming little by little until the projector lens clears the headlight lens.
