Nice! I do have the 2f. I Like to think of mine as a resto-mod, stock with modern adjustments. There area bunch of cruiser guys around here if you ever need parts or help. Seattle Cruiserheads is one of the local clubs I'm part of.

Mine will definitely be a resto mod. It's got a Chevy 283 in it now that the previous owner put in. It works good though. Good to know on the group. I've been over on ih8mud and those guys are helpful too.

283 should give you a bit better power to weight ratio, though I do love that 2f tractor motor. Mud is a great source. The guys and gals on there have a TON of info. Here is my build thread from Mud: http://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/irishs-slow-1978-rustic-green-build.802114/

There is a South Sound cruisers group too. I cannot remember their exact name though. Here is the Seattle Crusierheads page: http://www.seattlecruiserheads.com/ We meet once a month, talk cruiser and drink beer if you are ever interested in coming to a meeting. Otherwise we have a google groups page where you can ask questions, look for parts, etc.

Awesome. Yeah I wanted the 2f but I'll be happy with the 283. For the price I paid I'm happy with what I got. I'm pretty sure I've flipped through your build before but I'll look again!

Thanks for the info on the groups. I usually avoid the Seattle area though but we will see. I've got awhile before I'd be able to meet up though

Did you just use a grinder to remove your paint?

I used a wire wheel on a grinder for the rust, flap discs to remove the paint, and also some aircraft paint stripper to remove the old bed liner. That was probably the most time consuming process. Then did the prep work, towed it to Maaco and had them paint it with PPQ paint. Turned out really nice in my opinion. It actually made the centerfold of their national calendar two years ago.

The Seattle meetings are tough for me too, I am on the Eastside, and traffic isn't that much fun over there. The August meeting is a big bbq at Golden Gardens. That one is usually the best, or the cruiser parts white elephant around Christmas.

I haven't decided how I want to remove the paint yet. I've thought of having it blasted which might be quickest and easiest. The previous owner used bondo and fiberglasss cloth so some of it peels right off but some is stuck well. I took a flap disc to a few spots last night just as a test. The parts with cloth were super dusty so not sure I'd want to do that to those areas. But the just plain paint came up easy.

I'll look into both of those events.

Well good news and bad news. We'll start with the bad news.

Some bastard hit my tailgate. Right above the V6. Not sure where it happened.

    Now for the better news.

There is a shop in Edmonds but I don't remember the name. My buddy did his wheels there. They did a good job.
