its funny that everyone here puts the raptor down like its a piece of shit. i drove one for 2 days and drove like a dream, maybe its the california interstates that make it ride like shit. the fuel mileage isnt going to be as great as the tacoma but my dads 09 150 does just as great as the v6 tacos, but when they release the new 6.2 boss engine this spring everyones gonna be singing a different tune. weve already proved its getting over 18mpg with 35" tires and somewhere around 390 hp.

    I don't think it's a pos. I just think it's a pricey. I do think it's totally bad ass though. I'm just not a fan of Fords.

seriously, you think its pricey considering people pay 30k for a stock tacoma with shitty suspension, tires and less power, and all of this while getting the same mpg as a 1/2 ton truck. svt doesnt operate off of rebates they do dealer offers as in how much do people need or want in a certain region, im sure by this spring you will see a 4k offer back from the dealer. so for 35.5k you get a full-size truck, better mpg, more power, suspension, and tires and wheels people want. not to mention a company that will back up their warranty

Why didn't you buy a Raptor then?:p and I was basing my price on what the guy in the first post paid.

didnt need a big truck, but for the guys that like building their own pre-runners i dont see the point unless you enjoy the hassle and aggrevation

Fair enough. To each his own. With that "hassle" comes a sense of accomplishment and can make you proud of your truck instead of just going out and buying one imo.

it looks awesome but 15mpg sucks...i'd have to fill up 3 times a week...right now i just fill up once in my 4cyl toyo 4x4 at 22+ mpg average...oh and the toyo costs me 20k which is half the price...:)

I think Tacoma's are way over priced. Then again, so is every vehicle. That being said, I think the Raptor is cool. My buddy owns a 150 and it is nice. Gotta call it the way I see it. If there is a need for a 1/2 ton pickup, the 150's, 1500/Silverado's fit the bill nice at a prictag that Tundra has a tough time beating IMO. If you need a 1/2 ton, you shouldn't buy a Tacoma. The Taco can hold it's own, but the 1/2 tons rule for heavy work.

Fords are ok, but not as good as the yota's and kudos to ford for jumping into the offroad world, I think right now its just hype and I'm sure in a few years the raptor will be revamped and kinks worked out, but for now, i'd take my used taco over a new raptor anyday. My .02
