Removable Doors?

go to a junk yard. there were enough first gens bought back that im sure there are a ton of first gen doors sitting around.

 

is it legal here?

 

your a cop your supposto know the law

im not saying im gonna do it (to my tacoma mabey a trail rig when i get one)

 

if your dedicated trail rig is street legal, you have to try harder

 

i just want the breeze, and if i decide i think its gay, just put them back on no problem. i got the pins today it cost me 12.76, the connetor i got from my dad wasnt really that great, i got connetors for .46 each and only had to get two because there are only 2 wires going to my door HEHEHE. so if the bushings dont go to hell, i will have only spend $13.68 so much better than the 75 for the other hinges. I asked a cop today at school about it and he said as long as i have mirrors i will be ok so i have to do some thinking on that one.

For the hardcore offroader, this would be pretty sick to do. Might be kinda fun driving around town with them on too, definately a looker with em.

 

So I have a second gen DC and was thinking about doing this. I have power windows etc, but wanted to get some ideas for the cables that run to the door to the cab. Was thinking of either doing some of those wire clips (one end is flat and the other end is open for the flat part to connect to. If that makes sense), or finding some kind of universal plug that I can pin myself. Then all I would have to do is unbolt the hinges and disconnect the wires. Couldn't really find any of those quick release hinges for second gens, so that seems like my only option for that. What you think?

For connectors, you may want to look into Delphi's Weatherpack connectors.
I used them for my LED rock lights.
But for you it may be too large for the door hinge area.


As for the hinges... I had bought the 4Xinnovations hinges... but opted to do it this way.



Way easier to load and unload the door.
As for approval - - all you need (at least for Texas) seat belt and one rear view mirror to drive around.

Just did my mod. I bought a pack of bushings and pins just in case but ended up not needing them. If anyone wants em, PM me and I'll throw them in the mail

 

Anyone yet have a confirmed wiring harness quick connect solution?

 

My truck with power everything just has 2 plugs under kick panel that are easily unclipped to allow door removal
