That's funny, I sort of had the opposite with mine. Really like the higher output of the LED's for the fogs, but ended up going Morimoto HID's for the low beams.

Lol oh man, ya good call. Perfect example of trying to over engineer a solution, at least on my part. Simple enough since it's literally right there where your hand easily gets to.

Dude, it's a truck. You're running well above sea level going 85 mph. That MPG seems to be average for those conditions.

First you have it on cruise going 85mph where the truck is working hard to keep that speed and if I'm not mistaken you also have the Mastercraft Course MXT's on which really hurt your millage since they're an MT and heavy compared to stock.

WTF?!?!?!? How are you turning 3600 RPM at 85? I think mine only turns about 2200 RPM around that speed. Ill double check on my ride home from work today.

Thanks for being honest and sharing :). Here in San Diego, California nobody quite follows the speed limits, especially on the freeways,.. 75 ~ 85+ is freeway speed. And also with stop and go city traffic, I average around 14.1 or so. If I drive below 60, I suppose I would be able to see 19 or 20 like others here say. I think I saw that one time. Also, I always engage that ECT switch.
By the way, any way to keep that damn switch always ON?

My issue is not that i bought my truck for good mileage... I just want to see the mileage it is supposed to get!

Yep, whats making it harder for me is that when i first got the taco i would see anywhere between 18-20mpg. Its now just steadily getting worse.

I understand I seem to be throwing some extremes at the problem. But when a truck is rated for 18 CITY* to see 12 on the freeway seems bat shit crazy.. I've always had more aggressive tires on everything I've owned even my 2010 i would still get 18mpg on the highway..

The on board telemetry probably is not correct. I just look at mine and think, "Oh, that is nice." (25 to just over 26 mpg.) Do I believe it? No.

Your RPMS are way too high, I bet you are suffering the cruise control issue where it hangs up in gear, probably 4th in your case.

Compared to the stock tires your new Mastercrafts are over 10lbs heavier per tire without factoring in the greater rolling resistance of the mud tires. I have the General Grabber AT2's which are more aggressive and a little heavier than stock and I get in the high 17s for complete city driving. On the tanks where I have some highway trips cruising at 70-75 mph I'm in the 20s as an average with almost all of my driving being in town. The larger diameter tires will also make the speedometer off so you need to factor in the size difference between the two since all of the computer readings will be off.

What is more sad is, for sake of supposedly "great fuel efficiency" Toyota took away power and all options for tuning, and adding more power on this truck. The 293 hp it could offer, you won't see any of it unless rpm is red lined around 6600. Truth to be told, it's a weak engine with weak fuel efficiency, with a bad transmission, which I am afraid nobody wants to admit. Except maybe @smitty99 and me.

It sounds dumb but I drive 130+ miles everyday and here recently have been driving with the ECT on all the time. I average 70mph and its mostly highway and I get around 21mpg. That's 21mpg with or without the ECT on, I like it on because it feels like a truck instead of a Pinto with a tube sock stuck in the intake. So I recommend trying to leave the ECT on all the time for a week or two and see what happens.
