wasnt talking about you... through the MANY pages of this thread, there are alot of people that are bitching because it could be an AP rip off.. but so is all store brand foods...Walmart didnt invent mac and cheese but they sell it under their brand name.. AP has had no comment so who knows.. maybe maybe not..

 

Exactly, hell if you buy generic meds you are buying cheap knock offs. It's the game of patents. Don't have one or it expires it's open game.

Half the shit you buy at one store is the same thing in another with a different lable.

Look at mercury and ford, chevy and Gmc, chrysler and dodge. It's everywhere. Most are the same company selling different brands for the same product.

Hate to say it but unless the powdercoat fails miserably and peels off in sheets this bumper is looking like a really good value for yer $

I've got @allpro everything on my truck and can tell you with certainty that while the bumper in question is an exact copy of an AllPro APex steel bumper, there are enough differences (fog light cutouts & tabs, welds, etc.) that these are definitely not produced by AP.

Also, put your fucking pitchforks down...I'm not taking any sides in this shitstorm! Just letting everybody know what I see since there doesn't seem to be anybody in this thread with an AllPro APex bumper.

 

I don't think you can go wrong truthfully. Even a shit steel bumper will protect more than plastic. Either way you're going to get a face full of airbag.

If it starts to flake, blasting and recoating is still an option and probably still keep you under 1k and can touch up a few welds if concerned.

My bet is you get the same as you would elsewhere. I have gambled that 885 springs and labor to swap those out, switch out the coilover studs to the longer for the 10mm spacer will still have me cheaper than going aluminum with the same amount of labor to go longer studs and spacer plate anyway. My additional cost is the 150-160 for the springs

At this point I must agree. I guess if someone a few weeks down the road shows pics of a bumper that failed during a recovery, that will be more telling.

You can get a 2 generations old ARB deluxe bull bar for under a thousand shipped, same weight as this AP knockoff, if the price escalates this becomes a not so good deal
