First, you forgot forming the cut parts. There's a lot of overhead involved in all of those steps. Let's assume that you own/lease all the equipment to do that. A CNC laser table isn't cheap (100's of thousands of dollars), a pretty large press brake (120 ton minimum I would guess), a sand blasting booth, a powder coating booth, a fairly large oven (remember you want to do high volume), multiple weld machines, grinders, consumables, minimum 3 qualified and competent employees (harder to find than you might think), benefits for those employees (equal to their base pay), a very large building (rent, taxes, maintenance, etc). Then to run enough volume to get the cost down to sell them at $600 you would need way more than just 1x of all the things I listed. Multiply your overhead again. This business is expensive.

If you can't afford to buy all the equipment yourself, than you are paying 3x material cost to cover some other company's overhead which severally eats into your profit. I'd say, short of outsourcing to another country where material, labor and misc overhead expenses are cheap; $1200 seems reasonable for a quality handmade U.S. of A. product.

There are ways of going about it to make the product high quality and cheap. It just takes a lot of capital investment to build dedicated tools to stamp/form the parts, robots to weld it. Outsourcing to a company that already has all the capabilities to do this in a cheap country sure goes a long way.

What do you think @Mobtown Offroad, does that about cover it?

It's easy. The lower part is almost impossible. Have to remove the sway bar mounts and hook it underneath. It was quite frustrating.
