so I've tried looking for threads on this but can't find any. I recently upgraded my 3G SR head unit and an entune premium w/ navi and app suite. Everything works fine on it, except for the navigation. It's at least 300 ft off. I've tried resetting countless time and placing the antenna different places but it's always off no matter how much I try calibrating it or messing around with it. Is it just my unit or is this a common issue?

I assume you are actually on the road, and not in the field. No, mine does not do that. The previous owner of my Entune Nav unit had the upgrades performed at his Toyota dealer before he sold it. Perhaps that helped, if this is a common problem.

I stuck my antenna under the dash between the tops of the air ducts. This is not the factory location (which may be behind the instrument cluster, but nobody seems to know). It works great there. If your antenna did not come with the metal backing plate, then it needs to have a backing plate, or be mounted on metal, such as on top of the radio. This is my understanding.

Yeah on the road, DC metro area. If that makes a difference. Although I traded in a 2010 Acura TL Awd, the navigation on that was always super accurate.

Yes the antenna has a metal backing which is clipped into a plastic bracket; which I took off to fit in the same spot you're talking about. What do you mean they had the upgrades performed on it? Do you mean to the map itself or just a software update?

The eBay ad said the firmware was upgraded. It also has the app upgrade, including Slacker. I have not used any of the apps, though.

Yeah, i have slacker and all those apps as well. I'm wondering if its actually a map update rather than a firmware update. Ive tried resetting the radio itself and plugging it and unpugging it to see if the gps antenna could catch up. One thing i haven't tried is disconnecting the actually car battery. I don't know if that would be any different, but you think it could help?

I don't think the problem is with the GPS location because when the vehicle is receiving a GPS signal the "GPS" mark appears in the upper left corner of the screen, as yours does in the picture. I don't know about HD GPS, never heard of that. Could the issue be with your tires. The Navigation system also uses Tire Turning Data to determine your location and the Entune receiver is originally configured to work with factory specified tires. Installing larger or smaller tires may cause an inaccurate reading of your location. If you purchased the unit from a third party then you may want to do a Tire Change Calibration as described in the owners manual.

So I guess I didn't know that when you enter the tire change calibration mode it takes a while for it to actually calibrate. When I went into the diagnostic menu it reads as Gyro/Distance correction situation with 4 progress bars since I don't drive around too much and my commute is short I'm still at the 3rd bar. So hopefully more miles bumps it up and let's it finish calibrating. Will update when resolved

The navi in my 15 is about 20-40ft off, calibrated it numerous times and its still off.

I have a '17 with the same symptom but even further distance error. Wouldn't be as bad if the screen was ahead of my position (maybe) but mine lags behind.

Disappointing, 2nd class product. Never saw that in 20 years with various Garmin products.
