Just rolled over 180k and the stock suspension has been more than well used(f**ked). I want to do a minor lift 1-3inch both front and back to get a much better ride quality capable of light off-roading and hauling. I'm running a camper shell + another 100-300 pounds of gear in the bed.

Having a hard time finding someone who's done a similar upgrade or even just basic advice. Will probably head to sdtruckshop to see what they would recommend. (Yes I know I should just sell my 5 lug and get a 4x4 but I don't want to :p)

    Looking at this one #69092
    http://www.doetsch-shocks.com/22.asp
Adjustable 1-3 coils plus shocks for the rear. If I went this route I would think I could upgrade leafs or replace oem and add a leaf.

I was also told me that I should upgrade ucas regardless. What's a good middle of the road for my application?

I should also mention I have a friend who is a Lexus technician so I have access to oem for good prices.

I do not know very much about suspension so all advice is very very appreciated. Thanks guys.

I have either an added leaf or upgraded leaf in the back (last owner did it). I'm going to be doing lift spindles and a 2" shackle lift in the next few months. So while I can't help you now, I might be useful later. As an aside, I don't believe any coil-overs will work with our mini tacos without some modifications, so double check that kit. With a front spindle lift you still use stock suspension, so you can just use fresh OEM suspension up front to keep stock ride comfort while lifted.

so .. with a five lug,, we are limited with our lift options ... just last summer I was planning a similar build... the best bet will be spindles that essentially make your suspension sit higher on your wheels ... lifting the truck .. just as "mathematical" said. ..
there is also the option of using the coils that are for the v6 version of the five lug
I did both .. as well as MUCH bigger tires ... I am VERY happy with its ride as well as the appearance .. it sits just .5 inch lower than a TRD 4x4 of the same year

We have had some old school members from the CustomTacos forum days who lifted 5 lugs and did some light wheeling with them in the desert. They spent more time and money on repairs than wheeling. There are so many stock components of the standard tacos that cannot handle the load. In the end it became a regret for a couple of the guys. Just be prepared for the money pit.

Yeah man other than spindle lift going LT is the only way to go, everything else causes too many issues. I went through all stages before going LT just to stop breaking shit. Most the lifted 5 lug guys Mike mentioned that were doing this stuff at the same time had similar experiences. I cant count the issues I had between 2007 and 2010 before LT but since then just extra wear on some parts but no breakage.

Holy Crap that was a fast reply. Do Long Travel kits work well with 5-lugs? I guess since you're replacing pretty much everything it doesn't matter?

yah, since replacing quite a bit, they work well, but other parts of the truck need to be reinforced...

Everything needs to be reinforced for sure. Biggest win is elimination of the bracket that is between the LCA and Balljoin- horrible evil weak part.

Read the thread pinned to the top of the Long Travel forum- theres a lot to going LT- big commitment with no goig back to stock.
