I'd imagine you have all kinds of hilarious stories! But then again drunk people aren't nearly as funny your not intoxicated.

Being in Kentucky there are distilleries everywhere and I have toured several, that being said I dunno if I could work at one. Way to many bad nights on Bourbon that the smell definitely brings back!

Most definitely. Stick with it, master distillers make bank around here! I orchestrated a full barrel/custom bottling for my last employeer and worked with a guy at Buffalo Trace and we eventually ended up talking about the distillers they have. Most have been at it for a looooooonnnngggg time.

Yessir! Definitely keepin' at it. 25years old now and I've worked at(& helped open one of) the two biggest & most successful/well rewarded distilleries in colorado's big liquor scene. Consulting is where the big $$ is in the industry, I've been drafting a business model for me to execute in the next 5-10 yrs. Make that paper..

I've always wondered if opening a bourbon storage company would be lucrative. I'm sure with all the boutique distillers out there it would be nice for them to ship it to you to store and pay a monthly rental fee and then ship it back when the time comes.

initial thought there is that shipping full barrels would be the reason why thats not a huge biz. at ~550lbs a pop, they're not the easiest to transport lots of. Most bulk (aged)spirit is transported by tanker truck or rail car(post-aging) for that reason.

True. And based on what I've been told on tours you don't just build the storage barns. They take into account the trees around it, grasses, wind and sun direction ect.

correct, for conventional rick-house barrel storage those conditions are much more important. The places I work/have worked have large warehouses that are climate(temp/humidity/airflow) controlled for the aging process.

Today started my weekend! Cut some hay earlier today and now I'm watching the smoker and drinking some coffee. Got a 8# Boston Butt on for a 4th of July shindig tomorrow evening. Wanted to drink some cold beer but I got alot going on tomorrow and don't want to feel like shit.
