What can I do to get a little more power out of my new truck?

Hey guys I just bought my first Tacoma and had a few questions about it.

    1. Is there a decent set of headers for these trucks that will fit with the manual transmission? If so, what do you guys recommend?

    2. Does anyone make a performance tuner/programmer for the 4.0? And again, what would you recommend?

    3. Lastly, I'm looking at lifting the truck a little more than it already is and moving up to a 305/65r18 tire which is essentially a 33.5x12.5, would it be worth it to swap the factory 3.73s out for 4.10s?

Thank you in advance for any and all help!

3 will undo 1&2 and then some.

I don't know if anything that'll add a little more power to these 4.0s. Supercharge it!!

I figured someone would say that. But $4,000 seems like a lot of money for 65hp. I could damn near LS swap it for that

Yea, but that's the unfortunate truth. You could try ditching some inspiring weight.

I've found a couple sets of headers. Now it's a question of which ones are worth the money. Know anything about a tuner for these trucks?

No personal experience, so someone else will have to chime in, but from what I've read headers and tuning won't do a whole lot for us. Hope you find something that'll pep the 4.0 up a bit, GL!

I threw on an aftermarket intake and exhaust. I had a noticeable difference in power. Not in gas mileage like they claimed. The only thing i can think of for tunning, and im not even sure this is possible, but i want to get more info on remapping my ecu to get the most out of my upgrades. Ive thought about headers but have no experience with them. Ive avoided the idea due to the noise created by most aftermarket headers. Good luck! And FYI... I think you can tune your supercharger to get a lot more than 65hp out of it... Pretty sure there is tacoma owners out there pushing 350hp on stock internals.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
    No you couldn't.

Do a gear swap for more low-end torque but you'll trade off high-end length for raw speed. Hard to recommend headers without knowing what state you live in, many aren't emissions compliant.

What kind of noticeable difference are we talking with an intact and exhaust? I would assume you wouldn't notice much if anything.

You wouldn't. A header has the potential to move your torque curve to the lower-end but that's not a guaranteed or always a good thing.

Dude i noticed a difference with mine. Not huge increase but more airflow=more power. And i definitely felt it pulling a trailer. I guarantee i could pull away from a stock tacoma.

That's not really in the spirit of Tacoma World. Especially since things change.

But it is stupid when an OP asks a question and argues you're wrong

Haha okay. I wont argue. I guess having my tacoma for a year, half with and half without the upgrades and driving it everyday doesnt mean anything. Guess my mind is playing tricks on me..
