I just did a round trip on the NYS Thruway and I-84 with some secondary roads. Cruise control was set to 64 on the highways and the tranny stayed in 6th on the flats and slight rises. On steeper hills it dropped down to 4th but when I crested the hill the tranny went to 5th and quickly back to 6th. Round trip mileage by computer was 24.6 and hand calculation was 24.4. I'm happy. I wonder if my ARE MX cap makes the truck more aerodynamic?? I have a fuelly account and so far have averaged 20.2 mi/gal over 4600 mi. And the average is going up with every tank.

The tank in your truck isn't underground! I was referring to the volume in it affected by temperature.

It's not the cap, it's your efficient speed of 64mph. Most complainers are setting the cruise control to 75+mph and getting bad gas mileage

Limited wheels, extra rope hooks in bed.
I've also noticed idling sucks the gas more than I thought as does the AC.......

The AC is now very efficient compared to years past... I have idled for 3 hours in line at the U.S. border coming home from a camping trip in Baja, and I don't see very much gas used when I wait in line.
